I had an unpleasant experience at the cafeteria on Saturday afternoon. One of the staff members was extremely rude and seemed like they didn't want to be there. When I asked a simple question about the menu, they rolled their eyes and gave me a dismissive answer. They then proceeded to pour both of my drinks all over, without even acknowledging what had happened. I felt like I was bothering them just by being there. It was disappointing to be treated that way, especially since we've had so many visits to the bookstore without any problems previously. This behaviour was shocking, considering that the bookstore was generally a safe place to visit with children and spend quiet time reading books. To make things worse, the same girl then came around our table shortly after and started raising her voice, telling us that we had been there too long and that we had to leave, even though they were not closing for another hour and we haven't been long there. Overall - it's a shame the bookstore was good, but not worth visiting anymore. Hope the girl gets the help she needs to be a...

It impresses me in the age of the ebook and next day delivery online that Waterstones is still a thriving busy place when you go in, they have helpful staff, and they seem to know their customer base well and let them peruse and sample. The book market might never be the same again, and a a Waterstones had its share of the blame for that over the past couple of decades... And yet it remains a part bastion of the civilised city centre shopping.

I love taking my niece in, she sees the magic and potential of books, and if for nothing else I world recommend a visit, and a purchase.

They've also got a great line in classy upmarket gifts. Which while not strictly in the theme of this review, it's definitely something with checking out for the hard to buy gifts for, or the I'm bored I just want something to different...

I'm a reader. So bookstores always get me excited!

As soon as I entered I noticed there were appropriate covid safe guidelines in place and the store was big enough for everyone to be distanced and was clearly very clean and hygienic. I immediately felt at ease

I was greeted by a lovely woman who worked there as I browsed over the tables. She could instantly recommend a book and helped me with what I needed. Fantastic customer service. Something I highly value in a bookstore.

There selection was very wide and I saw many books I'd been recommended and liked. Their prices were mainly average, but there are always a few good deals. In addition they had a selection of book themed games and gifts as well as tote bags (one of my biggest essentials)

Passing by? I definitely...

A godsend(especially with toddlers!) Over the years we have seen many bookshops close. Without a doubt, high street retailers feel the double sided pinch of online sellers and general decline in reading. The newly refurbished Waterstones in Leeds appears to have found a new solution. Its revitalised store features a wellstocked collection, clean surfaces, friendly staff... and a Children's bookshop! My toddler loves to come and read. There are desks with plenty of sitting space. The cafe on the first floor is spacious, with nice and reasonably priced beverages. A true asset to Leeds and its people.

Came here for the Map Men book signing event today! Great environment, and very warm and welcoming, I was quite nervous at first so this was helpful. The staff were really attentive and nice. Easy to navigate and staff were vocal on where to go/queue for event. Seems like a generally nice store although we didn’t buy anything (event was on after the store had closed, I imagine we wouldn’t have been allowed to browse the store to buy much!) I would definitely return to a Waterstones book event.

Large branch with a good little café on the first floor. Shop does have a customer lift. Pleasant, friendly staff. Met the rather wonderful Kevin Sinfield at his book signing session. What a lovely, genuine and very special person this man is. Both he and Rob Burrows are heroes and leading lights. We need more souls like Kev and Rob in this battered, old world, what a utopia that would be. Thank you, Sir Kev, for all that you do and are. And Waterstones are OK too!
