A thoroughly disappointing experience — not what you’d expect from a place like this
I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Lost and Found was so poor that I felt compelled to say something. What should have been a relaxed and enjoyable meal turned into an afternoon filled with multiple issues that simply shouldn’t happen at any restaurant, let alone one trying to present itself as a stylish, high-quality venue.
To start with, the service was shockingly slow. We were left sitting at our table for 20 minutes before anyone even came to take our order. That alone set the tone for the rest of the visit.
When the food eventually arrived, one of the main dishes came out undercooked and clearly not safe to eat- told it was probably just a chicken thigh but the whole meat was pink and not something you’d want to risk eating. It had to be sent back, and while the kitchen was preparing a replacement, the rest of the table had already started eating — which meant one person in our party was left waiting and then had to eat alone, which defies the point of a bottomless brunch and going out for a meal. It completely threw off the flow of the meal and made things uncomfortable for everyone.
Then came the drinks - I found pieces of plastic in two separate drinks. Not just once, but twice. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, their response was surprisingly nonchalant. I was told, “Oh, that’s just from the pot wash,” as if that somehow excused the fact that we were served drinks containing bits of plastic. Hygiene and safety clearly weren’t being taken seriously.
And to top it all off, when I raised our concerns at the end of the meal, the response was: “ sorry about that but sometimes these things happen.” Although one of the bottomless brunches was knocked off the bill there didn’t seem too much worry about the issues stated above.
The truth is, these things shouldn’t happen. Not the long wait, not the raw food, not the plastic in drinks.
We left feeling disappointed frustrated and frankly a bit grossed out. It is not the first time I’ve had a poor experience at lost and found and wanted to give it another chance but after this I don’t think I will be returning. It was one of the first times for one member in our party and it’s safe to say she isn’t keen to go back.
There are other bottomless brunches that I will be considering for my next trip in Leeds.
Update: I got in touch with the assistant manager who wanted to speak to me on the phone. I said I was unsure a conversation needed to be had but if necessary to call I offered a time that suited me and was told I would receive this call. To my surprise after back and forth emails I never received the call. It is apparent that customer service and satisfaction isn’t take...
Read moreWent here this afternoon for our Christmas Party, and we were very very disappointed.
The booking was for 12pm, but we were only sat at around 12:30pm, with the first food turning up at 1pm.
Starters were all supposed to be served cold, except for the soup, so not sure why it took so long to get it out to us. As it was, the soup was also served lukewarm at best. Despite ordering weeks in advance, we were told there was a slight delay as the gluten free bread had to be purchased from a nearby shop!
After a long wait, we were told the mains were finally coming out in two minutes - however it actually took them over 5 to bring the first one out.
The beef that was to be served pink - which indicates medium - was actually served blue. While this suited me, it did not suit the other person having it. She sent it back to the kitchen twice, and when it was returned the third time she gave up and didn't eat it as it was still rare.
All the plates were cold, and it looked like some things had been standing on the plate for a while - mash had developed a crust for example - and lots of items were cold. Multiple plates were sent back because the food was stone cold.
Again, the gluten free people had issues, as their servers weren't sure which plates were gluten free and which weren't. So when plates were put down it was with "I think this is gluten free". Which when someone has a serious allergy just isn't good enough. This resulted in them losing faith with the team, and feeling unable to eat anything further.
Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on the dessert because it didn't arrive before we had to go at 2:35pm. When we pointed out that the desserts were cold - I had ordered a panna cotta - we were told they weren't ready yet. We asked if they could pop them in a box for us to take with us - but we were told they didn't have any containers that they could do that with.
So while the menu offered a lot, and sounded like one of the best menus I've ever seen for a Christmas meal..... Sadly the team on the day just couldn't deliver it and we were all left very disappointed and some of us were still hungry.
Would not recommend, given today's experience, and definitely...
Read moreWe held our wedding reception at L&F Leeds Club on 14.09.24 and our experience is mixed. We hired the top floor of the venue. The planning process felt chaotic, the events manager (Angel) was unprofessional and slack with email responses. Our final meeting before she left seemed to go well, but it later transpired that she made no notes during that meeting. If it wasn't for the organisation myself and my husband put it, the wedding would have been a mess. Jay and Storm were helpful, especially on the day. I think wedding bookings should be kept small, as we felt that our event was too large for them to cope with. The major issue was the food. We purposely over ordered to ensure our guests would be well fed. We also had a lot of guests who were vegetarian (for religious reasons) so we needed the food to be labelled, which I would think was common sense. However, there was clearly not nearly enough food, and we ran out with one table of 20 unfed. Storm told me someone had complained and asked if we wanted more food making, which of course we did, otherwise our guests wouldn't have eaten until the evening buffet 3.5 hrs later. The portion sizes were either incorrect or they just didn't produce the food we ordered. The management team moving forward need to label buffet food and ensure the portion sizes are correct. It added unnecessary stress to the day. The bar was also poorly stocked, which slowed down service. The DJ was amazing, and the lay out of the room was spot on (partly due to our decor hire of WoW Events - highly recommend). Jay was on the ball whenever I saw him and really attentive, I don't think the above issues were his fault, mainly down to the chef. Our guests had a lovely time, but overall I wouldn't recommend this venue for a wedding for 80-100, as it is a stressful process. We booked a city centre wedding and a simple 'do' to reduce stress, but actually it...
