We went for my other halfs and brother in law's joint 30th before we went to see Jimmy Carr, when we got there they was three members off staff at the waiting station as we waited patiently to be seated as we had pre booked. One girl was on the phone. Others where just getting bills while chatting among themselves. Not once did they said sorry be with you in a minute. To the fact a guy who seemed he was in a meeting left the meeting to seat us. We ordered drinks which took around 30mins to arrive. When the last came back she said there was a issue with the ticket it will be back shortly with the drinks. That's fine it only will happen once, right? We ordered our food and it came out prompt. The food was nice (me personally I didn't like it but it was my first time having that sort of styled food, rest of us liked it) lots off flavours. Asked for mayo that came quick aswell. After out meals we had some time to kill so we was going to sit and have a few more drinks and a dessert. Again ordered drinks and dessert. Dessert came, no drinks. After around 20 mins the girl came to clear our tables. I asked where the drinks where, she said she would go find out. Around 15/20 mins later our drinks came. Now as soon as they came we thought it would be best to get the bill, weirdly enough we got that in seconds but no one came back to take a payment after a further 20 mins so we had to again find someone. Also if your wanting to go to have a conversation this isn't the best place, we was sure the music was getting louder throughout our meal. Now plus side they automatically put 20% discount on. I'm assuming it's for the issues with the drinks but no one told us. Now bare in mind with the discount we spent £122. If they where more prompt with our drinks we would have spent more. The two stars are for cleanliness,...
Read moreI had been waiting to go try the food for years but finally I managed to get a table for 3 of us.
We ordered - 1x jerk out prawns(starter), 1x jerk out wings, 1x half jerk chicken, 1x mac and cheese, 1x West Indian curry goat with rice and peas, 1x West Indian curry goat and spicy fries, 1x festival
THE GOOD…
Firstly I couldn’t complain about the service as our server was really nice and on point.
The virgin raspberry reggae mocktail was ok.
Garlic pit prawns were just ok
THE BAD…
The jerk pit wings tasted burnt lacked flavour. Didn’t taste of real jerk.
I have never tasted such bland CURRY GOAT. Tasted really off. The meat had a lot of fat and was chewy. The onions were soft and left to soak so were crunchy. There were little square and rectangle potatoes that just tasted bland and hardish like the were thrown in for 2 mins. The sauce hadn’t been left to marinate long enough and/or the spices where not authentic so it lacked any real flavour
The Mac and cheese looked more like macaroni cheese than anything. My friend had the jerk chicken. The chicken was fine but it wasn’t jerk it was literally jerk with a marinade topping. Nothing soaked in and the chicken just tasted more burnt than anything.
Rice and peas, well you may has well have just given me packet rice because that wasn’t good either.
I should have known better when the place had not one Caribbean chef :(
Presentation was nice but food tasted bland. I don’t waste your money.
NOTHING TASTED AUTHENTIC. Better food can be ordered at the yard food shop for less than half the price we paid. Gutted!!!!
I WOULD BE SCARED TO RETURN AGAIN even to just try a different dish. Put me off for life. Unsure how it has got such high reviews but I’m guessing it wasn’t from people who have tasted true authentic...
Read moreI want to express my disappointment and frustration following an unpleasant experience at your Leeds restaurant today. I recently received an email from Turtle Bay with the subject line “£20 Gift For You” – which stated clearly that the gift could be redeemed with a minimum spend of £30. Based on this promotion, I visited the Leeds branch today and placed an order totaling £34.55. Upon requesting the bill and asking to redeem the £20 gift, I was informed by the manager that the offer could not be applied after 8:00 PM – a restriction that was not mentioned in the promotional email. After further discussion, he changed the reasoning and said the offer could not be redeemed because the minimum spend must be £30 after the gift is applied. This contradicts the promotional email, which simply states a £30 minimum spend, not a net total of £30 after the discount. When I questioned the inconsistency and misleading nature of this offer, the manager responded dismissively, stating that “the company is here to make money and doesn’t care about customers.” This was deeply unprofessional and only added to an already frustrating experience. I feel misled by this promotion and disappointed by the dismissive attitude of the manager. Turtle Bay has failed to honour a valid promotional offer, and this comes across as deceptive marketing. If terms and conditions differ significantly from what is communicated in the promotional material, they should be made explicitly clear at the point of contact – not buried in the app or revealed only when customers attempt to redeem the offer. I hope Turtle Bay takes this complaint seriously and addresses both the misleading promotion and the poor handling of the situation by manager.I would appreciate a response explaining how this will...
