As it was explained to me by a kind receptionist, this office is the office of the Ministry of foreign affairs. Despite the expectations coming from this name, the office that deals with visa enquiries is the Ministry of justice. The Ministry of justice's office is only in Berlin, where all applications are redirected by KVAC. So even though I had good experience visiting this embassy, it wasn't helpful. Save your time. Perhaps my example would help to manage expectations for others. I posted my passport on the 22 of July 2022 and I have sent total around 30 emails, always trying to be polite and formal, but with different degrees of emotional involvement anyway. I have received 6 replies overall, half of them were generic replies and 3 replies were mentioning my case, but I never received exact dates or status updates whatsoever. So by my experience, I would recommend everyone else to reduce expectations as far as possible. After holding my passport for around 2.5 months, I have received a request for my detailed bank account statement which I posted the same day. After that, 8 days have passed when I asked for a status update, and 5 more days have passed till today. You could guess if I got any updates. This is how it worked for me. If you wonder whether my application is one from the risky category, I don't think so. I applied for tourist visa, my partner is Korean, and I work in one of the biggest tech companies. My bottom line is, this system is just so much slow. I'd recommend to not repeat my experience and, if you can, refund all your tickets and accomodation quite in advance.

The service is really good and friendly. Today I went there for my driving licence translation. I arrived 30 minutes earlier than my appointment time. When I checked the notice on the door, the security opened the door and asked me if I have anything to do there. I told him my appointment time is 30 minutes later, the notice said that the visitor can only come to visit in 10 minutes before the appointment. I guess I have to wait for 20 minutes outside the door. Fortunately, the security let me in and check my bag, then direct me to the reception guy, the reception guy is very kind and nice, he found my appointment actually did not succeed, because I can not show the appointment confirmation email, then he asked my details and sign me in immediately. Then he showed me how to get to the right service counter. The lady in charge of the counter is the same - nice and kind and very considerate, she checked my documents carefully and tell me the collection time, remind me not lose the collection sticker, etc. In total, no more than 15 minutes and all my procedures were done. Absolute disgrace! I agree with all the comments. There is one lady in particular behind the window (short hair and wearing glasses) who is extremely incompetent and rude. She got frustrated because her English is not good and couldn't explain things properly. She found a mistake in one document and I accepted that. I asked her to check through the rest of the documents for any other issues and she said 'No, nothing else'. The next day I come to the consulate to apply again. Of course because she didn't actually check the first time, she found another mistake and I couldn't apply for the second time. She also said that she didn't see that document the day before when I'm absolutely sure the same document was in the folder. She basically lied to cover for her own incompetency. She doesn't know what she is doing. Looking at the rest of the staff sitting behind the windows in that consulate, they all look so miserable and angry.
