I had the pleasure of dining at Colosseo Restaurant in Westminster as an American tourist, and it was an experience to remember. The first thing that struck me was the long, thin restaurant layout, which surprisingly had plenty of space for both large groups and couples. It was cozy and welcoming.
Upon arriving, I was greeted warmly by the staff who quickly corrected my pronunciation of "bruschetta" in the most good-natured way. The waiter mentioned it's "broo-sket-tah," not "broo-shet-tah." I couldn't help but chuckle at my American faux pas.
As we enjoyed our meal, we were told in jest that dessert would only occur after everybody at the table finished every morsel on their plate. This added a touch of humor to the evening, and it felt like the staff genuinely wanted us to savor our food.
The food itself was fantastic; high quality yet fairly affordable for London. The menu offered a delightful range of Italian dishes, and I couldn't resist trying their pasta. Each plate was a burst of flavors that transported me to Italy.
The attentive staff took turns coming to our table, ensuring we had everything we needed and making us feel like valued guests. However, the only letdown was the limited beer selection; there were only two options. But, I guess I can't complain too much as an American in an Italian restaurant in London - it's all about the wine, right?
All in all, Colosseo Restaurant left a lasting impression on me. The combination of great food, friendly correction, and a touch of humor made it a memorable experience. I'm already looking forward to going back someday, correcting my pronunciation, and enjoying another round of...
Read moreWe searched online for a traditional Italian, family type restaurant with decent reviews and went slightly out of our way to go here. I have to say that overall the food was good - the Minestrone however was poor. Minestrone - originally a peasant dish made with what you had, has been elevated to a hearty classic containing many ingredients and can be meat or vegetarian but should have pasta or beans in at least. This was neither hearty nor classic. Pizzas were great and the bolognese was good as was the linguine con salsiccia. Liquor coffees shouldn’t have cream from a tin on. The service was . . . Perfunctory. Having worked in the hospitality sector, I have always believed that the customer should be made to feel welcomed, valued even. We were made to feel more like we were an irritant and service was a favour. It was busy, and I understand that people have off days but the hospitality and service sector lives or dies and how the customer feels. 12.5% service charge was added to our bill and I paid it willingly - remembering there are many people in the service chain including chefs, pot washers and waiting staff. My tip for the team would be, if you’re having a bad day, leave it at the door before you start work or take the day off. Reputations take years to build and seconds to destroy. Smile, no matter how you feel. Again, the food here is good, the restaurant is nice and judging by other reviews - maybe we were unlucky or, maybe they just didn’t...
Read moreAn Italian canteen with wide variety of dishes. Restaurant staff are lovely and were flexible 'like accepting doing some amendments to your order.' Also you would get your meal in 10 to 20 mins depending on your order. A luxurious place with very nice warm decorations and antiques. will amend my review after tasting its food. Ok, down to 3 stars as the quality of lasagna wasn't good. Although has a good tasty minced beaf meat but its pasta layers appeared not fresh 'as if heated after being stored, just a description as I am not in a position to judge its preparation'. I am faraway from Ramsi but I have got the impression of having a fancy looking restaurant with super nice staff but with a below standards kitchen, not to mention there is only one men toilet downstairs was dirty and with a previous customer has written nasty things against tourists' . The Lasagna was disliked by three of us, Calamari was adored by another, Spaghetti and pizza were good according to another two among us. Conclusion, unless improvement to be made to its kitchen and downstairs service, would advice sticking to its pizza and other non complicated meals. I wish this restaurant all the best as may be as a start and will be much better if they can accept their...
