My Tuesday morning visit to Formative coffee was a formative experience for me.
Much of this was like any other Tuesday morning. I had landed at my desk and hit an early slump after only having one coffee this morning. Finishing my early calls, my mind turned to caffeine.
I'd already reviewed the closer by spots. 6 minute walk to Formative coffee it is then.
Everything went as expected. I entered the cafe, waited briefly in a small queue, then ordered an oat latte (not iced as the weather had turned).
Service was quick and efficient. I was in and out before I could snap too many pics and vids on my pixel 8.
But I knew I was close to becoming a level 8 local guide. I persevered, lingering in the shop for a borderline uncomfortable amount of time for the trendy baristas and busy clientele. I snapped away ensuring to maintain my usual aporoach of showing the café's interior as well as my coffee itself with minimal disruption to my fellow patrons.
The coffee was nice, oatier than most I have sampled in the area perhaps suggesting a weaker espresso than others locally provide. Only time, my concentration levels and bowel activity will tell on that front.
Enough about me anyway. Achieving level 8 local guide doesn't happen alone. Thank you to all the bar staff, baristas, park-keepers, train station staff, waiters, food prep workers, and the guiding community who have given their their blood sweat and tears to help me reach this monumental achievement. This one's...
Read moreI stumbled upon this gem of a coffee shop and it completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere — cozy lighting, clean tables, and the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
The baristas were not only friendly and attentive but genuinely passionate about their craft. I ordered a flat white and it was perfect — smooth, rich, and beautifully balanced, with silky microfoam and just the right kick of espresso. You can tell they take pride in every cup they serve.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail. The beans are clearly high-quality and expertly roasted, and they even offer a rotating selection of single-origin brews for those who like to explore. I also tried one of their homemade pastries (the almond croissant — unreal!) and it paired perfectly with my coffee.
There’s a great mix of seating options: quiet corners for working, larger tables for groups, and even a few outdoor spots for sunnier days. Free Wi-Fi, great music at a comfortable volume, and plenty of power outlets made it an ideal work spot too.
All in all, this is the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again — whether for a quick caffeine fix, a relaxed meet-up, or a quiet moment to yourself. A true five-star experience....

I tried a Brazilian double espresso and despite usually not liking coffee from that country I loved this! Loved it so much that I bought some beans. If only Formative would open a branch in Belfast - I'd never leave! A wonderful experience again! The best staff. The attention to detail in their service of customers is next level. Absolutely love it and can't wait to return on my next trip to London! It will be the first port of call when I get off of the train from the airport!!
Yet another fantastic coffee shop in the heart of this wonderful city! Staff are super friendly whilst the coffee is super tasty. They were using Nomad beans from Barcelona when I visited and they were tasting beautiful! Had a cinnamon bun as well which was really nice. Perhaps a little pricey but excellent. I like the shared seating concept. You get a glass of water too, which they periodically top up for you. Epic. Really loved it. Plus it's tucked down a side street that's pretty quiet. Highly...
