Fish & Chic — Local services in London

I had a very terrible experience today at this shop. I ordered fish and chips and I was told I had to wait 7 minutes for the fish to be cooked. I explained I couldn't wait that length offers time so I would just have chips. He wrapped the chips and when I took out my card to pay he said a minimum £5 order for card payments. The chips cost £2.50. I explained I didn't want anything else from the shop apart from chips. The man was very rude and said I should of asked about card payments before I ordered. He then complained he already put salt and vinegar on the chips before he threw them into the bin infront of me and my 9 year old son who the chips were for. I thought I would share this experience as it is the middle of the easter hols and I was taking my son for something to eat as we had just come from a science workshop. I am not quite sure what he was trying to prove by throwing the chips in the bin in front if us. It was very embarrassing. I will never visit this shop again.

I was not made aware of this before I placed my order. He made this clear once I showed my card to make a payment. If he wasn't so rude I would have considered purchasing more food to total of £5 or more. He stated to me that I should of checked about card payments before I placed my order. And the manner in which he threw the food in the bin was with a poor attitude in front of myself and my child who was very confused at what was, happening. We only stepped into your shop to buy food not to be humiliated. I appreciate your response but I will not be visiting a shop that has such poor customer service. I would have even been willing to pay a surcharge if the order was below...

I went in on Saturday 3rd November 2018 at about 12:30 midday (just so the owner knows who was working behind the counter, but then again, maybe HE was the owner, god help them)! I asked for a portion of chips and he gave me them and I paid. I looked at the chips and there were black and green chips and lots of burnt bits in the open bag. Ends of chips that had fallen off and crispy. They looked like they had been reheated. They looked horrible! I didn't want to get a bad stomach. I asked how long they had been in and and showed him the chips. He replied rather aggressively: 'I've just taken them out!' I didn't ask 'when he had taken them out', I asked 'how long had they been in' which is a different question. I told him that I wasn't going to eat them and they looked horrible. 'They're not horrible' he blurted aggressively. 'Well, that's for me to decide because I'm paying and I'm the customer. So I'm not eating them.' I can't remember whether he took them off me aggressively or I gave them to him but he threw them in the bin aggressively. He started to work on a new portion, but he didn't even say anything like; 'I'm sorry about that, mate' or 'It may have been a bad portion, apologies.' So I decided to get my money back and asked what the problem was and why he had an attitude problem? I left. Terrible food, terrible service, terrible attitude from the server. I’m from the States and love fish and chips. My London family moved in Shepherds Bush and we were looking for a good local fish and chips place. After 4 weeks of trying to convince them to try F&C since they were nearby I was successful. It didn’t hurt that it was my birthday and I got to choose what was for dinner. After a miscue about the time our dinner was suppose to arrive and a call to the shop to check on our order, the meal arrived piping hot. The food was delicious but one of the four meals we ordered was missing. After waiting 20 minutes to get through my son-in-law finally got a person on the other end who refused to help us resolve the issue and said, “He, assuming the boss, didn’t know who he was and that he could be anybody and he didn’t care because they were busy!” Despite the fact my son-in-law referenced his first call, described the order and did so politely SO if you want decent fish and chips but don’t care about customer service and how you are treated then I STRONGLY recommend Fish & Chic. Unfortunately, they’ve lost our business and won’t be recommended to any friends or family in the area. I hope this review was worth the meal bought that they rudely refused to make good on.
