This is a very well stocked Indian store with a multitude of groceries. I bought some Haldiram's prepriced promotional savoury snacks.
I picked up a large packet of flaked rice and took this to the counter. The item was prices at 1.99. But when I gave it to the chap at the counter, he scanned it and said it was £2.50. When I pointed out the ticket price below the item, he said the prices had gone up and they had not got around to changing the prices yet.
This I though was highly dubious and unprofessional. Also, according to my understanding, the shop keeper must sell the item for the listed price and then he can take the remaining items off the shelf and reprice it before putting out again for resale.
When we entered the shop, my friend enquired about fresh mangoes and the same chap told him the mango season was over the previous week and there would be no more mangoes. But when we were about to leave, we saw about 7 boxes of mangoes just past the counter . We pointed that out to the same chap who then advised us the mangoes had just arrived. Such a contradiction to his previous comment about mango season being over. It felt as if he was just making things up as he went along, including the prices.
The price of £10 for 6 small mangoes was £3 more than I had paid two days prior to that at my local Indian shop, too much I though. This chap really needs to get his act together and be factual with his information and perhaps more competitive with pricing the Indian...
Read moreWhat started as a 5 star experience has gradually faded into 3 star reality. I was tempted to write this review a few months ago but then decided to give the business benefit of doubt amidst the ongoing situation. It's only fair to state that they are one of the few Indian grocers in Bromley who pioneered a delivery service. However they do charge a sizeable fee of £4 and off lately I have found the delivery staff more of a miss than a hit. There have now been more than a couple of occasions when the order has just been left in the open with no proper intimation. There have also been instances when some of items in order have been refunded literally at the last minute. This can throw spanner into the works especially if you are eagerly awaiting these items that indispensably feature in your imminent plans. Hence important to have a mechanism to update online stock at real time else there is good chance of leaving customers...
Read moreI have ordered from this shop once before; four jars of pickles. They arrived promptly, but one was broken. To the shop's credit they did refund the money for that jar, though they made me jump through hoops. Then I ordered two jars of pickles and two bags of frozen samosas. The package arrived with the samosas fully defrosted so I couldn't use them as you're not supposed to refreeze stuff. Numerous phone calls mostly resulted in the message that their voicemail is full and I couldn't leave a message. Twice I sent e-mails to their help address and twice left a message on their website, all without reply. I did get through to them on the phone once, but the gentleman hung up on me before we could explore the solution to the problem. So, the fact is they have taken my money and not delivered on what was required. By blanking me, they have proven either unwilling or unable to meet their responsibilities. Hence the one...
