Myself and my girlfriend signed up for Yuki's miso making class in February. This was the first cooking class that either of us had ever been to so naturally we were a little anxious over what we might be expected to do or know - these thoughts were instantly banished once we arrived and I can safely say this is suitable for all cooking abilities. Yuki was a very warm and welcoming host (served us some amazing Japanese barley tea) and gave the group (8 in total) some choices over how the class would be structured. The central part of the lesson was making miso paste, which we were taken through step-by-step, with each part explained well and plenty of hands-on preparation for all the group. We also learnt about different types of miso paste (including taste tests!), the concept of umami, how to make shio koji, finished off with a hoto noodle soup prepared by Yuki for us all to tuck in to. Yuki is a really enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher, happy to take any sort of question, which makes it a great learning experience. This all created a really nice and relaxed atmosphere in her kitchen, with everyone freely conversing...
Read moreIn 2021 I've attended about 7 of Yuki's online classes and I have loved everyone. I was over the moon when I was recently given a 3 class pass as a gift and I can't wait to book more classes. What I love about them is; Yuki is so welcoming and I feel at ease as soon as I join Even when the classes have a lot of people Yuki has always time to answer questions and provide assistance to whoever asks. She takes so much care of us all. She has totally demystified Japanese cooking and it all now seems so accessible The dishes are amazing! I've made everything I've learnt from her after class and they are now in my usual repertoire of dishes. Today I had vegan ramen, delicious! Each dish feels really special but yet is easy to make, and I can now make meals at home that I would previously have had to go to a restaurant to eat Yuki has created each recipe with a handout and these are so easy to follow after the class I sometimes meet my geographically distant family in the classes and we cook together and then share a meal together
I don't live in London but next time I travel for a visit I'm going to go to an in...
Read moreI have attended four online cook alongs with Yuki in the past few months. For each a comprehensive ingredient list with vegetarian and meat alternatives has been sent out well in advance. Any up front prep that is required before the class is also outlined. However, if anyone has not been able to do the prep, Yuki has also been able to offer a short cut alternative once we start. Her classes are fun, informative and whizz along. While we move swiftly she always has time to answer questions, offer insights into the ingredients and sourcing and interacts with the participants along the way. The dishes we have produced have been incredibly tasty and I am amazed that with her help I have produced sushi at home with none of the wrestling with ingredients that I expected! So I can now add several types of sushi, ramen and a hoto miso noodle soup to my repertoire and look forward to learning more about the amazing Japanese cuisine from Yuki in the...
