I've generally enjoyed the food from this chippy - it is what it is, but they do their thing consistently well, and I'd usually visit around once or twice a month after a couple of pints. However, I was frankly flabbergasted and quite disgusted to see the manager/owner shouting at one of his staff in front of customers - apparently, he wasn't stacking the wrapped food in a customer's bag correctly. Fair enough if the boss had given some firm direction or guidance - he obviously needs to learn if he is doing something wrong - but instead he said "no, no, no, no - I could sack you for that. Get them out and do it again!" in a really belligerent and aggressive way. It must have completely embarrassed the young lad serving, and it made my toes curl to witness it. And this wasn't the first time I've seen the same bloke speak to one of his young assistants in that completely disrespectful and bullying way, so I suspect it isn't an uncommon occurrence with his style of management. Anyway, it was a step too far for me and my custom, and I walked out without buying anything on this occasion - and after reflecting on what happened, I honestly don't think I want to spend another penny in the Baths Supper Bar while that man has anything to do with...
Read moreI came in today after work and witnessed what only could be described as bullying. By a young girl who worked there and who i assume was the owner, towards a man who you could tell was trying his best. I later found out that this man was only on his third shift. Not only did they try to get the customers to join in the public humiliation of this man, but they treated him so poorly that he walked out (which in this current climate says a lot about how he was treated.) The people i was with and I spoke to the man after who was a very kind, who even after being treated the way he was still said the food was nice (which personally i thought was average.) I am appalled by what i saw today and regrettably didn’t say something at the time, but it’s been 4 hours now and i still cannot comprehend the behaviour of...
Read moreReluctant to give a small local business a bad review in case it has any impact on staff long-term. Sad that this place has dipped in quality to the extent it has. It used to be the best chippy in South Manchester. Towards the end of the week particularly the queue would be twenty or thirty deep.
It was owned by a Chinese family for years, from when I was a kid until a few years back. They had a big kebab bar, different types of fish, the staff remembered peoples names and orders. It was a real asset to the community.
Obviously the world moves on, and I wish the current owners well, but the range is nowhere near as wide as before, the food isn't as good, there doesn't seem to be any camaraderie between staff and customers, and the heart and soul of the place has been sadly...
