We didn't have anything to eat, so I can't comment on that. We went in for a sit down and chat over a tea. There is a very good selection of lose leaf teas - black, green, speciality, and herbal &/or un/de-caffeinated teas. We ordered a pot of Winchester blended tea, and a pot of Almond Black tea. Both were unique and delicious. The Winchester blend was similar to Earl Gray but with slightly different flavour profile. The Almond tea smelt like a freshly baked Battenburg cake, but didn't have a sweetness to it when tasted - it was a good quality large leaf Assam with a distinct almond nuttiness. Very moreish!! When it came to our table the tea pots were very large (a good thing in our opinion, we do like lots of tea), and free hot water top ups are offered. You are given a tea cup with two saucers and a tea strainer, so you can put the strainer on the spare saucer. They have seeing upstairs, so don't be put off if it looks busy when you look in from outside.

What an absolutely lovely little cafe! My friend and I sat outside on a Saturday lunch time. I had a Avocado BLT, and it was absolutely delicious - I’d actually go as far to say the best one I’ve ever had, the bread was perfect, everything cooked to perfection. Just delicious. Also had a flat white to go with, the coffee was very tasty and lovely. The milk was slightly burnt, but I think this is generally how people prefer it in the UK so lots of coffee places tend to do it on the warmer side. The staff were very friendly, and upfront about their being a wait for food and drink which was totally fine but always best to know from the start. Toilet nice and clean with baby changing facility which is amazing to see in a little cafe. Absolutely perfect, would 100% come back here again!

Craving a big breakfast over the weekend, Tea Hive caught my eye. Very accommodating for different diets- vegan, vegetarian breakfasts and alternate milks for drinks. I arrived hungry and the portion size did not disappoint, in fact I felt guilty I could not finish my meal! I enjoyed the “dirty chai” a mix of espresso with chai for those who are indecisive about which drink to choose. Four out of five stars only because I was hoping to see some greens on the plate as I know some places do with a veg style breakfast- good for health and to add color to a dish.

What a shame!

I rarely post bad reviews, I believe places have off days. It was going so well. The afternoon tea was lovely and we spoke about definitely returning. I booked in advance (6th March 2024) and gave my bank details for a deposit to be taken. Upon paying today, I was told no deposit was taken (despite giving my bank details over the phone!). Fine, I checked my bank and confirmed that whoever took my booking didn't action the deposit. Their mistake. The tone and accusatory manner I was spoken to by the member of staff means we won't be returning. I was treated like I wanted money off our food. I don't need any money off and I am not the sort of individual who would try and scam a, likely struggling, coffee shop. Staff require customer service training. Administration processes need to...
