The Bodega — Local services in Norwich

It was ok. Its overhyped.

The good bits:

The place looks cool as heck. The menu looks great. The sandwiches look great when they're served.

The average:

The price. 9.50 for a sandwich (2 standard sized slices of thick bread) is 'ok', theres a good ammount of filling. But its not "a good deal".

The service. Friendly enough. Not at all chatty. Thats fine; you dont have to be.

The bad:

almost 15 mins for 1 chicken sandwich, and there was only 2 people that had ordered. I see this place packed sometimes so god knows how long people are waiting.

The sandwich. It looks good. Thats it. Its a beast that you can't pick up, all the insides spill out everywhere. It makes a huge mess. Sandwiches are supposed to be the easiest thing in the world to eat. Taste was "alright". Felt a little bit undersealed but it wasnt bad.

Despite what im going to say I want to give this place the benefit of a doubt and we think they just had a bad day. Me and my partner decided to try out the bodega as we've heard good things about it, I had the pulled pork sandwich while my partner had the OG cheese. The sandwiches are truly epic size as others have stated but unfortunately today its where the excitement stopped. The first bite into the hog sandwich and I was instantly punched in the face with insane level of saltiness. My partner tried it and agreed that it was insanely salty. He was okay with his OG sub but mentioned it tasted like sheperds pie which he's not a fan of anyway. I tried his and it wasn't too bad but I could see where he was coming from with the sheperds pie flavours. In the end, we will give this place another go as we truly believe they just maybe had a bad day? Also as a suggestion maybe try the stuff...

Went on my lunch break, made sure to order on the app ahead of time so i could pick up and go. I had ordered for 13:20 but arrive 10 minutes earlier, the absolute legends sorted me out ahead of time in 5 minutes. I’m not religious but I feel blessed by Jesus after that.
