We have been to eat at this small place couple of times now. The pizzas are of great tasting and the young guy who makes them is very polite and always helpful. We have been there before when a young girl was serving us and we were always welcomed with kids especially with a sleeping baby in the pushchair. However, I have recently taken my brother and his wife and a 2 year old kid there and the experience was a complete disappointment. The elderly lady who was serving at the till was very strange. First she said to me that I cannot put the pushchair with a sleeping baby in the corridor because I am blocking the passage for her to serve food ( we have done it before and never received that comment from any of the staff- I thought this is a family friendly place). Secondly she came up to our table and without saying anything she moved the tin with serviettes and cutlery away from our toddler who happened to play with the serviettes. I can understand that she was not happy that he was playing with a handful of serviettes however he is a child and we are adults. He was already told not to play with the serviettes by the parents. The way she came up to the table and moved the tin was unprofessional. The tissues are included in the price that you pay- that is my understanding. Do they cost so much ? Btw all the serviettes that he played with were used later on ( they were exactly 8 serviettes that he played with and 4 people eating so just about right especially that the serviettes are thin and small). For future reference to avoid this situation the toddler playing with serviettes I suggest you wrap each pair of cutlery with one serviette and in this way you will avoid using too many serviettes- but in my view they don’t cost that much and should be limitless. I have never come across such behaviour from the waitress/ waiter anywhere. On a positive note I cannot fault the pizza because they are delicious. Best...
Read moreI remember buying a Brick pizza at Redwell brewery before the days of the Brick restaurant in Norwich, it was one of those experiences that's stayed with me, one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. 10/10.
I went to the restaurant last night and was slightly let down. Pizza took 55 minutes to be served, for a Tuesday evening I'd say that's fairly significant. Had I have been warned beforehand it probably wouldn't have been an issue but it did throw out my plans for later in the evening.
I ordered the same pizza as last time, the Emiliano. I was expecting great things, but sadly it didn't meet my expectations. It was a nice enough pizza don't get me wrong, but not mind blowing like my previous experience. I have an Ooni pizza oven at home so I know a little about pizzas (not claiming to be an expert!). The dough didn't have those beautiful, crispy air bubbles, the flavours were lacking, almost as though it needed to be seasoned. Don't get me wrong, most people would eat this and be fairly satisfied. But personally, I found it to be a little bland.
If the owners of Brick read this, my intentions are not to tarnish your reputation, but hopefully you can learn from these errors. Overall the service was great, the location is perfect, good menu and the pizza was honest. I will return, and fingers crossed these kinks can be ironed out so you can fulfill...
Read moreReally don't understand what has happened to Brick, unsure if things are starting to go to pot a bit since partnering up with the pub next door and offering pizzas to take-away?
The atmosphere inside the restaurant has become rather... weird and the staff are fairly cold with customers. We went in and were told that they 'couldn't take any more orders for 15 minutes' despite the restaurant being relatively empty. We sat down and waited a good while (probably about 20mins) to have our orders taken. To their credit when we did place an order the food came relatively quickly and the pizzas were fine but sloppy in the centre.
What was really strange was hearing the team there turn away possibly the most customers I've ever seen from the restaurant.
They don't operate bookings so it's walk in only. Countless people (maybe 50 or so in the space of an hour?) streamed through the door and gazed quickly at the menu only to be promptly told 'sorry we can't take any more orders for 2 hours' or it would be 'an hour and a half's wait'.
You could see people were baffled by this given the restaurant space itself was pretty much empty. Whether it's inadequate staffing or a prioritisation of takeaway/pub orders over people wanting to sit in their actual restaurant I don't know, but either way it's not a great...
