My wife and I made 2 visits to The Wheatsheaf on the same day - a Friday in mid July; one for a light lunch and, having seen their main menu on their website, we had also booked for dinner that evening. We were pleased with our choice. It's a great pub with a lovely "cottage" garden at the back. It has a good selection of beers, although there were only 2 rose wine options. At lunch, we opted for a roast ham, salad and mustard sandwich (white or brown bed options) plus a tuna and cucumber baguette (wholemeal). The latter was c10 inches and cut in two - so a sizeable offering. Both were served with a small salad glazed with balsamic and a small portion of coleslaw.    Read moreNice pub to visit sat out in the garden which is very beautiful and full of pretty flowers pink purple and white .Lovely shrubs and very pleasant to sit in,it has a very English cottage garden feel and the the view of the church steeple makes a stunning feature of interest to look at and take photos. The surroundings are old stone buildings of character and are picturesque. There were also pretty lights and English bunting that gave it a party happy feel. If you like playing pub bowls there is a section for that to . It is dog friendly and the family in front of us had four lovely dogs that were having a nice time and were given bowls of water to drink from and had supper with their owners . They tucked into their meal and appeared to enjoy it . We just had drinks as we had a pre booking at a restaurant but will definitely try it...

Great food every time I've eaten here and decent value for Oakham.
Service is usually spot on whether eating or just in for a drink.
Atmosphere is generally great but can get busy particularly around weddings at the Church over the road. When it's busy it can be a bit loud but most of the time it's really lovely.
A fantastic beer garden for any hot and sunny days we might get!
Great food, beer, service, atmosphere and a lovely garden to boot makes this arguably the...
