We booked archery for my son's birthday, and if it hadn't been a special occasion I'd have walked out. The indoor archery space was very hot which couldn't entirely be helped but apparently none of the air con or fans were working, the windows didn't open and were thick with cobwebs (and some impressively large spiders) nothing was set up ready for the session, and it didn't get better from there. You couldn't really stand at the front line to shoot because the bow hit the ceiling, so you had to step back closer to the safety line. The "instructor" told us to use a three-finger under draw and that a draw between the middle and index fingers "isn't a thing." Which it is, it's a Mediterranean draw, and one of the most common techniques used in target archery around the world.
While it was explained we had to put the arrow around the bow to nock it and not through "for safety reasons" which is dubious given that Archery GB clubs thread the arrows between the string and riser as standard practice, finger tabs were not provided, and the instructor strung the bows without a stringer, pushing one end hard into the floor and bending the other end straight down, which is absolutely laughable. Not the safe way to string a recurve without a stringer AT ALL.
There were barely enough arrows for two people to shoot each round and then no replacements when the nock on one broke. The middle of one target was so badly damaged we were asked not to shoot at it and the entire boss behind the gold area had more or less prolapsed out the back. I could easily fit my arm through the hole.
So in short - dirty, hot, badly prepared, the instruction and health and safety were laughable, and a lot of the equipment was knackered. We had a good time and the instructor was a lovely person but honestly, this was a farce from beginning to end. The place desperately needs maintenance and refurbishment and staff need training from one of the local Archery GB registered clubs to bring their methods up to scratch before it goes wrong and...
Read moreThe place was okay to find, but direction singage to the soft entrance would help from the car park. The facility.. is okay, but little on the small side. But it is good enough to entertain the kids (4)(7). Food.. ( took over 20 minutes to arrive ) The food was a little pricey for what it is. Being told that a "sausage roll will take 25 minutes to cook" as it has to go into the oven " is just ridiculous. Customer service....The younger chap that was on today ( 22.6.25 at 12:00 pm ) in the light brown t-shirt was rude due to being flustered by the till and a previous customer asking where the food was for a birthday party up stairs as "They were all getting very restless" when he came to serve me ( after he rolled his eyes after the other customer left ) said to me " So what do you want " (in a slight condescending tone ) I didn't not appreciate the attitude as it was not my fault you had a customer issue and a till issue. It may have been his first day ? If not some customer service and extra till training would benefit this chap. The female server / receptionist just looked like she did not want to be there at all.
Insult to injury...
Just took my kids to the bathroom, and the staff cleared the table, taking my kids' unfinished lunch. we were gone 5 min he said " because the plates were stacked up i thought it was done " I said " I stacked them because 4 plates took up the whole table so it was easier to stack so he could take his time and finish when he could." A replacement was quick to appear with an apology. 13:20 staff started to hoover whilst customers were still eating. No to mention wacking into my feet at the table with the Henry hoover. Started to feel a little unwelcome tbh. Spent the best part of £50 on food, drink, entrance fee. No very customer service...
Read moreI recently visited this soft play area with my child, and overall, we had a fun time together. The highlight of our visit was enjoying a delicious hot chocolate. It was a nice treat that added to our positive experience. However, there were a few disappointments during our visit. The fish fingers we ordered turned out to be solid and difficult to eat, which was a letdown specialy because they were very expensive. Moreover, we noticed old food mess on some of the tables and even on the floor. It was surprising to see this, considering there were only three people present at the time. Despite these cleanliness issues, I must commend the staff for their friendly and helpful demeanour. They were accommodating and made sure we felt welcome. In terms of entertainment, my child had a great time exploring the soft play area and engaging in various activities. Despite the drawbacks, the enjoyable moments and friendly staff made the visit worthwhile. I hope the management takes note of the cleanliness concerns and improves upon them, as it would greatly enhance the overall experience for...
