We recently discovered The Hub whilst on holiday in St Ives. We had taken our bikes with us but because my wife had been having treatment for breast cancer, we found she could not get out of St.Ives on either of the two routes because of the steep climbs. We had seen advertised electric bikes which we were already considering so we decided to visit The Hub for advice on hiring an e-bike for my wife and to find out about the terrain on the Portreath to Devoran coast to coast trail. The owner was So enthusiastic about these e-bikes so I test rode the bike for my wife for half a mile or so and found to my astonishment how much assistance this bike provides if and when you require it. I decided there and then that this was what my wife needed if she was to carry on cycling especially in Cornwall. I explained to the owner that we would like to hire the bike for two days with a days break in between ( three days of hire), he did me a great deal! My wife and I completed the coast to coast on our first day and she had a day on the beach on the second day. The third day we cycled to Marazion from St Ives roughly 26 miles return with the terrain coming out of St. Ives and going back in via Carbis bay, the wife left me for dead on all the climbs, including Porthmeor Hill going up from the surfing beach which after fifty yards I had to dismount and push it the rest of the way. These guys helped us to have some amazing experience of cycling in St.Ives. We are back in St. Ives in a month and we will be back for more fun on this absolutely amazing bike. I cannot thank the owner and the other guy who helped as we set off on the trail enough, very professional help and advice, which has helped my wife carry on cycling and add to our holiday fun.

Thanks again and see you in a...

I have had to go straight in the middle with my stars. Some of the food is wonderful. The hub club is very worth it, the kids sandwiches are good value, the cakes are marvelous as are the hot drinks. The service is friendly but overall a little poor. I hope that's just down to Covid. Order inside and collect around half an hour later or so (even without any queues). Drinks and food appear at complete different times, usually the food far quicker than the drinks so your food is getting cold whilst you wait or have to chase it up. The fishfinger sandwich was incredibly disappointing. I know it specified fishfingers, but I expected something more than the local shops cheap grey and dried out fish fingers. The pile of rocket lettuce did not then justify bumping the price up to over £6. This is somewhere I really want to enjoy but just feel let down in places. Hopefully I can try it again in the future when it's up and running as usual? We were using the take away service. Also as a side note, there were inconsistencies with the food. Panini's state they come with nachos and slaw, out of the 3 days we only received these once which was also a little disappointing. However I don't want to come across as moaning as there were some really great and...

Still not got a refund. I'm going to see a solicitor. It's been over 2weeks now. Waited nearly an hour for a sandwich. They made me feel like I was making it up saying they couldn't find the order. 10mins later they find it but still couldn't refund me. I was told I would get my money back in 5 to 7 days. It's been 2weeks and still no money. I can't believe they couldn't just take the cash out of the till there and then. Very dodgy place. Very unhelpful and untrained. Not one person could work the card machine to refund me. Ridiculous. After all that, a local person told me that they have mice in the kitchens so I am glad I didn't eat anything now. I have written 1 review before this and it was because the staff went out of their way to make our experience really amazing so I thought they deserved some recognition (Ada on the Isle of Wight in Ryde) but I have never felt the need to write a bad review until now. I wasn't going to bother saying how bad my experience was in the pod Portreath but now I've been ripped off, I am bothered 😢 I am going to see a solicitor if its not refunded by the end of this month. TRAIN...

Myself and 4 others went for breakfast yesterday as they opened at 9 am, ordered 5 things and drinks costing almost £60 (had to pay on ordering) Sat out side and when we were disappointed to see our coffee in disposable cups her response was no crockery outside, a few mins later another customer got his coffee delivered to him in a cup and saucer ?? On the table next to us! Then our food was delivered on crockery plates ! Food was terrible, the toast was cheap nasty thin sliced white bread, the scrambled egg were not seasoned and microwaved (cheap pale eggs) the pancakes were burnt and microwaved to leather consistency…. Quite an achievement! The ciabatta was actually quite nice, but only 3 leaves of spinach! Very disappointing as we used to like it there and went regularly (change of ownership I think) No one came and asked how the food was at any point and avoided clearing the plates while we sat, otherwise they would have been given feedback and time to rectify it. Such a shame, won’t be back.

We’ve been here many times before but thought after today’s visit I’d leave a review. Today is pancake day and we saw online they were doing them all day. On entrance I asked if it would be too much to ask if they could do the pancake mix with oat milk as my son has a very severe allergy to milk. The waitress explained it shouldn’t be an issue but she would ask the chef, which he confirmed! The waitress was super attentive and respectful of my son’s needs. She’s was smiley and provided the best service throughout our visit! The pancakes were absolutely banging! On exit we actually saw the chef and explained how we appreciated the effort. The whole team were great honestly! We like coming here and will continue to do so. We are from Cornwall and urge anyone, local or not to check this place out!

Came in again today for lunch with my Mum and Dad. The food was great and the service from Keara was excellent. She was so friendly and helpful. I was a bit awkward, but she didn't mind and sorted it out. I had the salad with King Prawns and Smoked Salmon which was lush. Mum had the Halloumi salad and Dad had the Bacon and Brie Ciabatta and they loved theirs as well. Service was really fast and efficient, decent portions as well. As before I highly recommend and we will be back soon. Thank you to Maddie for my amazing Ice Cream Sundae. She was so friendly and helpful as I am a bit fussy!! The Cafe is so pretty and cosy too! Highly recommend and will be back soon!
