I went to Clithroe and the first place we spotted was this outdoor market. I always like a good outdoor market and it's a shame that so many are shutting down or shrinking. Unfortunately this market is also shrinking and some of the stalls were not occupied. However some of what was there was well worth a visit.
There was a Horsebox serving some absolutely fantastic bacon baps. The bacon was top quality and the barm it came on was also very good, unlike some you can buy!
There was also a great stall serving up millionaires shortcake and the like and so of course we had to sample that. Very nice.
A few of the shops were in buildings to the left. I thought the layout made them a little out of the way and only by walking round would you know what they were selling. I'm sure they'd get more business if they were more obvious. The market town planners probably didn't know what they were doing.
There was an antiques stall which took up about three tables. A lot of it was just old tat probably from house clearances but at least it occupied part of the market, better than nothing.
At the top was a decent looking women's clothes shop and to the left an Asian food outlet which looked good although I didn't buy anything.
Worth a visit although overall...
