This review is based purely on my experiences when sat outside at the front under the awnings. Yesterday Thursday 16th at 15.00 I called in for a coffee and as has become the norm I stood in the doorway in order to catch a staff members eye and make my presence known, this is a necessity as more often than not no staff will appear. Now bear in mind it was not busy as there were plenty of empty tables both in side and out. Sat adjacent to me were two ladies who appeared to be fed up waiting and one of which had to go inside to place their order, eventually staff appeared in the form of two young girls and another who seemed to be the senior of the trio. Now there wasn't a thick fog or anything of that nature and I was sat at a very visible empty table. The senior was completely absorbed chatting to what appeared to be some friends of hers then disappeared inside whilst the younger pair in a blinkered fashion cleared some tables then also vanished!! Now I'm a big bloke and hard to miss and coupled with the fact I was waving a brolly in order to grab their attention I'm baffled as to how all three failed to notice me. After this no staff returned at all so I eventually got up and left wondering do the staff here suffer from some form of agoraphobia or is it just out of sight out of mind? But seriously you guy's really need to up your game and look after your customers on both side of the front door as this pattern of non service keeps repeating itself and is very...
Read moreMyself & 4 friends visit the Sun terrace as it was a beautiful sunny day. When we entered there was no interaction from any staff as we made our way upstairs. A waitress came to take our order, there were 5 in our party & ordered the 2for £15 Aperol Sprits ordering 6 drinks to get the offer. I myself I’m an Aperol Sprits drinker & when the drinks came I thought they were lacking in the bright orange colour. On tasting them it was obvious there was very little Aperol in them. I spoke to the waitress who was very defensive in her reply saying the manager won’t do anything if we had drunk them, at this point we had not. She asked did we want to see the manager, which we did. The manager came & basic told us it was the bar’s policy to only us 2 shots of any alcohol in any cocktail. This is not good when an AperolSprits is a 321 mix 3 Prosecco 2 Aperol 1 soda. The manager said they only ever put 1Aperol in them. You should perhaps rename them. We had spent the afternoon in Clitheroe at some lovely places & would have to say that Maxwells was like a ghost town compared to everywhere else we visited. The bar & sun terrace is a lovely area to sit out just a shame about the poor quality drinks & most unhelpful staff. Sad to say I wouldn’t return on our next...
Read moreWent for lunch with my friend and daughter and really disappointed with the service. We sat on the terrace upstairs which was nice although needed a clean, our drinks order was taken although took a while to arrive. When the drinks arrived our food order was taken, it took about 30 mins for the food to come, at which point our drinks were empty. We ordered more drinks as our food was out down which didn't arrive until 10 mins after our meals were finished, really disappointed to not have had our drinks with the food. It felt like they had just been forgotten about The food was ok, nothing special, my chicken katsu curry lasted like it had been microwaved and I thought the kids meal was expensive at £7:50 for 2 small sausages and fries. We were told that the drinks would be knocked off our bill when they finally arrived which they weren't, and the waitress then argued with us that the drinks order had been taken after the food arrive despite her not bringing them until our food was finished. We were not offered condiments and felt like we were putting the waitress out when we asked for some, staff were really...
