BREAKFAST REVIEW: Blueberries Cafe Clitheroe New Market Street, Clitheroe
I must have walked past Blueberries Cafe hundreds of times while working but today was my day off and as I was in the area, I took the opportunity to give them a try.
Blueberries' choice of full English breakfasts was simple enough - real or vegetarian. No prizes for guessing my choice. Everything I would usually want was included so I ordered the breakfast along with a pot of tea. As ever I asked them to hold the egg and was offered a hashbrown as a replacement, which I declined. I opted instead for an extra piece of toast.
The pot of tea came first and it was a lovely brew. The pot was big enough to get two decent size cuppa's out of it.
The breakfast arrived shortly after and I was offered a choice of red or brown sauce, which then came in a small pot complete with a little teaspoon. The toast was sliced white - I could have opted for brown when ordering, and it came with a small foil wrapped pat of butter. I was glad I had chosen an extra round of toast as the breakfast only included a single slice.
The breakfast itself looked great, all neatly arranged on heated plate and not a spot of grease anywhere.
I could tell at first glance the black pudding was from Alpes The Butchers by its shape, unsuprisingly it was delicious. It also gave me confidence that the rest of the ingredients would be of similar quality. The sausages were from Farnsworths Fresh Foods so obviously no complaints there either they were delicious. The bacon was good quality but for me could have been sliced thicker. The tomato was a nicely grilled half....grrr where's my other half. The mushrooms were well cooked and tasty. I think the beans were probably Heinz.
The waitress was really friendly and the whole place had a really nice relaxed atmosphere.
In summary it was a very nice breakfast, I would have preferred thicker bacon, the other half of the grilled 🍅 tomato and maybe a second slice of toast as standard. However I would definitely recommend a breakfast at Blueberries Cafe. Good quality food prepared well in a...

It's got a fully Covid secure approach to access, including distancing, limited numbers at the cafe counter (no seating or waiting), and sanitiser freely available. There is still a very good menu including many favourites. See my photos for a menu shot and opening times.
ORIGINAL: A market cafe, I assume originally for traders, but clean, bright and welcoming and used by many visitors and locals, particularly people ‘people of a certain age’. The menu is basic food, but wide ranging and cheap, and there’s a lovely selection of cakes in the cabinet if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth. There’s a ramp most of the way to the door, but one last step over the threshold, if you’re a wheelchair user, but ask for their portable ramp. They are friendly and willing to adapt what’s on the menu - my scrambled egg, tomatoes and mushrooms is not a menu item but they...
Read moreWe was in Clitheroe early morning & had two hours to pass, We wandered through the town following signs to the market, unfortunately the market wasn't on, however we stumbled across this lovely little place, didn't look much from the exterior but was early & assumed they was setting up, We went in, got a friendly good morning asked if we was ok, sat down looked at the menu, plenty of choices to be had, we both opted for a smaller breakfast (black pudding was awesome) & coffee, we did swap an item out. The breakfast came quite quickly lovely presented & very hot! A slight mistake probably due to me swapping an item, the lady rectified the issue promptly & apologised. We said no harm done & appreciated the fact it was sorted quickly. Toilets was nice & clean, smelt fresh, Water bowl outside for your dog. If we visit Clitheroe again, we will 100% come here again, A lovely...
