The New Wolds Chippy — Local services in Rushcliffe

This place seems hit and miss a lot of the time. Sadly, it seems to be miss more often than not. Chips either not cooked properly or you can taste the fact they've been sat there for a while. Been going to this place for years (used to work there) but I won't be going back now after the manager tried to refuse my money then continue to embarrass me while others were in the shop. Pricing is about average for the area but the food is not. Not the worst place in the area but no where near the best Edit due to owner response - I fully understand the need to be sure that the money given is 100% real, although I've actually never heard or seen a counterfeit pound coin myself. The manager told me she didn't want to accept it due to it being dirty AFTER embarrassing me in front of customers (who were actually members of my sons school, which Maria did not know I knew them) I used to come in daily for my son as chippy chips are one of his safe foods (he is autistic). Sadly, this was not the first 'problem' I've had here but it was the final straw. Maria was always good to me so not sure what happened. Me and my partner thought we would try this place out as our usual go to chippy was closed, it looked pretty nice at a first glance, but honestly food was not great and when we got home, we realised one of our main food items was missing most likely due to the fact staff were just chatting to each other the entire time they were sorting our order and clearly weren't paying a lot of attention to what they were doing. We got asked twice of our order, and repeated everything back to her, and one of our items was still missing. Paid £10 and was barely worth half of that, especially with not getting everything we paid for. The food was okay at best, but can't really comment since some of it was missing. The recent rebranding has put this Chip Shop on a par with all the other independent ones in the area - The difference in quality now is notable but as a consequence their pricing is on a par with competitors but this is understandable due to the better taste. This chip shop has been here for over 20 years and it's offering their best food & the shop will be here for another 20 years - it has an army of happy loyal regulars who can overlook the slight increase in price for the convenience of keeping their local chippy, Maria has worked here for years and is always nice even in the busy times so regardless of a couple of negative reviews get yourself down here and make your own mind up .
