Where do i begin with Zarkas. Some say its the best for your midnight hunger and others say its your go too when you feel peckish. Me on the other hand, feel its a must pit stop for any passer-by, tourist, student, rail-user and family. I order from here, practically all the time and the unique spices and flavours never fail to come through in everything you bite into. The staff who work there, are super friendly and are a great laugh, the seating within the takeaway are always filled with couples, students and best of all families, which makes visiting this takeaway that much friendlier. I normally give a review about what i have ate, but i've pretty much had everything there is to eat and not one thing is out of place or delivered poorly. But as a human being, one has his preferences, mine being the pizzas and the peri peri meal. Now don't go in expecting Nando's style peri peri chicken like most restaurants and takeaways try to copy, expect a unique peri peri chicken like no other. The pizza are how the Italians would describe as magnifico, if they were to ever taste it. The dough like bread, soft in each bite and cheese oozy and stringy, passata creamy with hints of tang and the toppings, you be the judge of that. Location wise its fab, you can't miss it considering how well lit the place is. Oh, i what i have failed to mention is most of the dishes especially the curries are family inspired and are authentic to both India and Pakistan. You may ask how i know this? Simple, i happened to bump into the original owner of which i am ashamed to have forgotten this great and humble mans name, as the son has taken over the business. He mentioned of how long the restaurant has been going for and the awards it has received, which are clearly visible for the customers to see. Overall, please do try this place out, as i am sure it will not fail to deliver on taste and atmosphere. As well as the fact, you will be left in tears of shear enjoyment like i have...
Read moreI have been a Zarkas customer for 40 years. It used to be one of the "go to" places for the staff at local nightclubs like The Place in Hanley, The Placemate in Newcastle and Chicos in Hanley to go, to meet up over a meal after they finished work, I know this is true because I was one of them. Unfortunately the vibrant buzz is missing these days and sadly the menu is the same as too many other take-aways so there is nothing to make it stand out. The staff are nice. The place is clean and you can eat in as well as take out. My personal favourite from Zarkas is a jacket potato with "butter" and popcorn chicken. There is no car park but there is some street parking and it is near bus stops. It is near Stoke Railway Station and not too far from Cauldon and Hanley parks and Staffs Uni and...
Read moreAll food is really bad or mediocreat best.... pizza is bland and flavourless , curry's are mush and again really just awful. Typical sweat shop takeaway with no moral and or direction.
I'm surprised they manage to get any order right after them missing things on various occasions, and swapping things for the fun of it
speaking to their customers like they are something special with attitude and completely without any manners, again isnt a great way to go...and not to mention them making up prices as they go for the fun of it.
Seriously had it with this place , I can't beleive how on earth these **holes stay in business , I really don't.
They bring the city to its knees with their lacking of standards and care.
Scummy place....
