Wonderful, wonderful place that has become a regular (almost weekly) stop for me and all my friends. I recommend it to everyone I meet and we all describe this restaurant with the same words:
Very big portions: share the dish with someone if you're not a big eater but if you, like me and my friends, are, Hawasana will not disappoint you.
Amazing, mouth watering cuisine: that's what brings us back over and over again. Every time we plan to go, the days that lead up to that are a constant "I can't wait to eat at the Afghan place" followed by intense mouth watering.
The most reasonable prices we've seen in the UK: me and my friends come from all around the continent, Italy, Spain, Greece, Kazakhstan, and this is the one place were none of us could complain about the price. Quite the opposite in fact: you'll have way more than enough food in your belly with a fiver.
The service has never let us down and the staff has always been more than kind, super-friendly. We've been served free additional food whenever there's been the slightest hitch on their part, and that hasn't been a recurring theme to begin with.
I am a firm believer that the one reason they haven't blown up yet is because they are quite hidden, more than once we brought someone to the place and their first reaction has been "wait, I've been here before, how come I didn't see it".
If I can complain about one thing, is that Hawasana hasn't been reliable with their opening times in my experience. I've come to eat at the same time, same day as the week previous to that, with many curious, excited and hungry friends by my side, only to find the place inexplicably closed.
Not worth chipping a star off though, as I love this place to death and I'll be eating here regularly for the rest of my stay in the UK. Hell, I may even come back in the future just to...
Read moreTo start off, the arrangements of the cutlery was really bad. The forks and the knives had just been cluttered together at the end of the table, and the menu had grease marks all over it. Usually, when one orders, the waiter/waitress takes the menu card away, but here, it was left onto the table. The seats were comfortable (sofa seats) but there was very little leg room. I ordered chips to start off, and firstly, the waitress had delivered it to the wrong table, and for the chips to come it took around 20-25 minutes. The sauces had their small caps taken off, which made it unprofessional. The plates were stone cold and plain with alot of scratches. On a more positive note, the chicken karahi which I ordered was amazing. Although it had taken an hour to come, it was very soft with the perfect amount of spice and the portion was good aswell. If the naans were verticallly mounted on a stand it would've been more convenient, as the naan was taking up most of the table space. The chutney portion was very small, barely enough for one person. Lastly, the firni was flavourless and it did not look fresh. To summarise, the food and the arrangements were not satisfactory but the karahi was amazing, giving this...
