Acton Ace Hardware — Local services in Acton

I got very upset with their repair shop and felt CHEATED. Two weeks ago, I dropped my Stihl chainsaw at their shop to check-up and expected a phone call for an estimate. One week later, I got a call saying my chainsaw was repaired, including carburetor cleaning and lubricating some other components, which total costs 121dollars. I was offended as I did not authorize the repair, and to my knowledge that was illegal. I wanted to speak to their manager, and waited, and no one called me for one week.

I finally went to the shop for an explanation, and they changed their story saying my Chainsaw was not repaired (Aha?!), and ask me about $189 if I wanted to do it. I end-up brought it back in a box (as it was dissembled) and not being informed what was wrong with my chainsaw. At the end, no one gave me either an explanation about that annoying phone call nor apologize. They should lose the Stihl dealership if they treat their customer this way.

I have been a member of this local shop for years... but...

Whenever I come here, the staff goes out of their way to not help me, a few of the older staff also give me wierd looks. When I first started going there I tried saying hi to the employees upon walking in, but I just received cold stares in return. The few times when I have asked for help its usually a short and uncomfortable comversation. It's odd because they tend to treat certain folks very well (maybe they are repeat customers? I really hope it isn't due to my ethnicity). Needless to say, I stopped shopping here... It's 2018 and this behavior is beyond unacceptable. I hope for the town's sake that this store closes down, Acton doesn't deserve this type of representation. I should also mention that on top of not helping me, once one of the employees "followed" me through the store, I was looking for adhesives and perhaps he did not like that I was near some other...

For a little town hardware store this place is the greatest I go in there I always can find what I'm looking for and even if I can't there's always an abundant amount of staff to help me find something or assist me with something. Thank you for the staff being so friendly and outgoing with their help and their kindness can't find that in any Walmart or any tarjay or place like that so thank you Ace for keeping up your family traditions and your kindness to your employee and the kindness to the customers that come into the store not sure where to find things I need help with things to put together to do at home during this crazy time you get more than just a five-star in my book more like 10...
