EDITED REVIEW:::: After living here for over a year and making peace with the fact that they won't fix anything I have been able to start enjoying my townhouse. The location has a lot of traffic off the main road but the neighborhood itself is quiet. They finally sent out pest control and keep the landscape neat. The park is really outdated but it's a Pokestop so that's cool. The cabana has a working fireplace with satellite TV above, unfortunately the grills are disgusting and have never actually worked for me. The pool accessibility is extremely flexible which in the south is a tremendous blessing! We wanted our son to go to Millbrook but the county rezoned and he was forced to go to East Aiken Elementary. We were veryyyyyy concerned about it at first but I have to admit we like the staff there, the bus driver is so nice, and my kid is happy there. During hurricane Helene my side of the neighborhood did not lose electricity for longer than an hour. Because of the school, the rad floorplan, and how quiet the neighborhood is we decided to renew our lease for now. Renewing the lease doesn't negate the fact that they do not fix things and if they do you're looking at 2-8 weeks minimum for repairs. Ie: our half bath faucet collapsed at the base of the sink making it inoperable. I submitted a work order but after a few days I accepted the fact that I was going to need to repair the faucet myself because waiting 2-8 weeks wasn't an option for my household. The day after we moved in the kitchen cabinets above the refrigerator fell off the wall and were not safely reattached to the wall for another 2 weeks. Praise God no one was hurt and none of my things were destroyed.
Would I recommend someone move in here? Probably not. Has this place grown on me and become our home, yes. I hope this updated review is helpful to those searching...
Read moreThey do well with fixing anything that breaks in a timely manor. However, we are constantly fighting mold in the bathroom and air vents which is giving us headaches. They use the cheapest paint possible to where anything you lean against it no matter how gentle you are or even touching it leaves marks so they have no choice but to repaint when you move out and then charge you for it. Coming from a neighbor that recently moved out, they still charged him for multiple things that he even took the liberty of fixing and cleaning before leaving, and instead of contacting him personally they sent the amount straight to a collection company that contacted him and threatened to put it on his credit report. It seems that they do anything to nickel and dime you to death. The appliances are all cheap and the dishwasher is almost useless for anything other than storage. The two level town home is very hard to keep at the temperature you want. The upstairs is always hotter and with the placement of the thermostat, it can be freezing downstairs and still warm upstairs causing it to constantly run. We've been having a really bad problem with spiders inside the apartment and requested pest control and after almost two months decided to contact the pest control service myself and have our apartment added to their list the next time they come out. Also the parking is torture if your building is filled or your neighbors have company on a regular basis. You may have to park three buildings down to carry your groceries. For the money that we pay each month these apartments should be a lot nicer with many less issues. After our lease is up we will be moving somewhere else and not recommending anyone to...
Read moreThis is a nice apartment housing. The staff for the most part is friendly and welcoming. However, the manager is an unprofessional individual. I gave my notice to vacate the property. I was informed that I would have to pay a prorated rent for the time before I moved out. I would also be required to pay a cancellation fee and partial rent for the time that the apartment was not re-rented. I spoke with the office staff regarding my account balance. I was informed that I only owed the cancellation fee. However, two months after moving out of Gatewood Apartments, I received a call from a collection company. Two days later I received a collection notice. I attempted several times to speak with the property manager. She ducked my call each time. I have placed a call into the Gatewood Apartment headquarters. I have also spoken with the collection agency. I have also spoken with the property manager and she informed me that she just recently updated my account. I was not happy about this and it has caused me a few problems. Be warned if you move into this place. I would rate this place a negative if I...
