I lived here for a year- worst year of my life. I thought I could save money and not have to move again in the near future- little did I know that it’s ran horribly. When I first moved in, the fridge stopped working, my friend and I bought ice to keep my food safe and maintainence didn’t respond for 3 weeks and then apologized when I told them this happened three weeks ago. Also under my sink was just made out of shitty plywood, and the walls had holes in it, turns out a mouse lived there, saw it run past me. I told office and maintenance several times and they kept telling me that exterminators would come Monday but then low and behold they would not be there, luckily I had a cat so I think it scared it away. I was told about the ‘new carpet fee’ before I applied but didn’t know my apartment had it until I got the bill, the only carpet in my apartment was the bedroom which was approximately a 12 x12 room but that still was 30 dollars a month because the rest was linoleum even though the carpet was stained before I moved in, told them about and emailed pics but was never responded to. I lived on the top floor and the AC did not work, every time I complained about it they told me it was “just an old unit”, if I kept my ac running at 69 all day and it was 80 outside it would be 83 degrees inside, it cooled nothing and no matter how many times I complained they did nothing, but unfortunately the electric bill would still be 200+. Even my dad visited me and got upset and called them, they told him they would send someone to check on it, never saw that person nor did the ac start working. About two months before I moved out I got bed bugs, I called the office and they gave me they gave me the same spiel of “exterminators will come Monday”. I then called the next day because I was upset and felt I wasn’t being taken seriously and told them I would call the health department. They sent out the exterminator on Monday (thankfully they showed up) to my whole apartment building, turns out a person below me was infested and infected 3-4 other apartments. I was lucky, because after my second treatment I was bedbug free but while moving out they were still putting notices on peoples doors for bedbug treatment and my neighbor talked to me about how she was already starting to count her days here. I’ve never had bed bugs, this was a completely wild experience, would never wish it upon my own worst enemy. This was just the most dusty and bug infested apartment I’ve lived in, I bought 6 ant traps because you would find ants in the most wild places. All year round I got stink bugs in my place, and I had a spider land on my face when I was about to fall asleep. One good thing about the bed bug treatment was that I stopped having to deal with all the bugs in my apartment because they killed them and all I had to do was clean up the bodies. Not to mention application fees are at least double the price of anywhere else, and my security deposit was a month of rent- I just think anyone could do better. I think maintenance tries their hardest with what they’re given and there’s one dude in particular I really like and he deserves a raise for making the apartments feel nicer, but other than that, they are very poorly run and I’ve never had a worse experience than this. Attached is the photos of where the mouse was, the bedbug I found and killed and me comparing the temp outside to the temp inside with the ac running all day. Also they raised rent by a hundred dollars fyi 🙄 Also just saw another review but I need to add that parking can be a literal nightmare if you don’t have a garage, sometimes I had to park far, far away ESPECIALLY on weekends, also they just repaved it when I moved in last august but all holes are still there i parking spots and it’s already cracking again. Also if you’re curious, it did cost 400+ just to apply 💀 Also 2 years later update, never got my deposit back but my friends came and helped clean the apartment which is why I posted half of those photos, I just wanted to say something in response to the good reviews

My fiance and I have been here for 14 days... On April 2nd at 8pm my fiance had put in a maintenance request for our bathtub as it is clogged. We did not hear back from anybody for over 24 hours so we called the following Friday morning at 9am to get it resolved. Not a single person showed up that day. At 4:40 pm my PREGNANT fiance walked over to the clubhouse where we signed our lease and spoke with the office ladies. Maintenance came almost instantly, but proceeded to state that they won't do anything until Monday because it was after 5pm. The worst excuse I've ever heard. Following that night our tub almost over flowed with water from people above us showering. I called emergency maintenance and the guy came with a snake, called Roto Rooter because he couldn't get it unclogged and told us they would be here in approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours. After 2 hours went by I called them again and then he proceeded to say, and I quote, "When I called they said anytime between 30 minutes to Monday". All of a sudden its Monday now? the maintenance is a joke here. We pay over 1k for an apartment AND CANT GET OUR TUB UNCLOGGED NOR CAN WE TAKE A SHOWER??? Two words. Slum lord. We had an electrical fire in one of the main electrical panels in our building due to old wiring and outdated equipment. When this occurred the maintenance workers refused to call the fire department even tho the building was filled with smoke?! The only reason they did was because I told them if they didn’t I would. Power has been out to our building for three days and still no end in sight. Management does not care that we are left in the dark and forced to take cold showers due to this outage. I also have kids that stay with me. Obviously things do break in life, and I understand that. But I’ve spoken to management multiple times and no one has any answers, Nor do they care how you get through the outage. Also the apartments are infested with bugs. We even had a period of time where there were roaches living in the building. If I were you I would stay far away from this place!

UPDATED:

Cedarwood Village is ON TOP of preparing for the Merriman Valley Development Plan! Parking lots were recently resurfaced, sidewalk damages were fixed, many walls were freshly repainted & hallways were refloored, laundry rooms were renovated & machines upgraded, & so much more. Everything feels so fresh, & we can't wait to see what's next!

All of this progress is being brought to you by a change in management-- Sarah, our property manager, is very kind-hearted & personable; as a leasing consultant, she helped my husband & I move in to our apartment over 4 years ago. She was there to give us a tour & answer any questions we had about our out-of-state move to the area. It was a smooth process, & we've felt very welcome in the community! Now, Sarah's in charge of the place, & she is so dedicated to her work. Very accomodating & understanding to residents' needs & concerns. She has a great team to help out, too - from the office to maintenance. These people care about our living conditions, comfort, and safety, & they're doing all they can to improve our community for everyone.

The community itself is pretty great. There is so much diversity here! I love living in an inclusive environment. Residents typically keep to themselves, but everyone is friendly, & there are plenty of opportunities to socialize. We have a monthly Community Newsletter now, too, that gives updates on what changes are being implemented, upcoming events, & plenty more!

There's so much to do around here. Liberty Commons is in the center of the complex, & in it are plenty of local businesses, restaurants, bars, etc. Across the road, we have Happy Tails, a thrift shop whose proceeds benefit animals in the Summit County Humane Society's care. Dollar General is here for your last-minute shopping needs. McDonald's for your fast food cravings. Vasili's Greek Cuisine is one of the best restaurants around here 🙌 (and it's family-owned). Michael's AM has great breakfast food. So many more great places in the Valley, AND Cedarwood Village is abt. 10-20 mins. away from just about any store you could think of; we're conventiently located between Fairlawn, Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Metro Parks are all over the place, & each is so well-maintained and beautiful to walk through. There are also plenty of bike trails. Oh yeah, & we're very close to Blossom Music Center! If you love the city & also love nature, I think you'll love it here 🙂

Cedarwood ammenities include a workout room, community room, swimming pools, a tennis court, laundry rooms, and access to fiber internet.

The apartments are pet-friendly, and the property itself is very dog-friendly - plenty of space for walks, clean-up stations, & there is a Bark Park for playing.

As far as the layout of the apartments go, the space is well-designed; plenty of closet space, and 2 walk-in closets. Each apartment has a patio w/ a sliding-glass door. It works fantastically if you know how to utilize storage space efficiently! Galley kitchen, spacious hallway, & the bathrooms are not cramped. There are a few different floor plans -we're in a 2br 1.5 bath apartment, & we have plenty of room to move around in, store stuff, & our cats enjoy having ample space to run around in. We've decorated our home to our liking, & it feels so cozy! The living rooms, hallways, & bedrooms are painted w/ shades of beige. The kitchen & bathrooms are painted white for cleanliness purposes.

Appliances are durable, & we haven't had anything major break in the entire time we've lived here. Kitchens have standard refrigerators, ovens w/ stovetops, & dishwashers. One thing that stands out about these apartments is that they all include CENTRAL AIR!

Maintenance has always tended to any Work Orders we've had to to the best of their abilities; they are prompt to respond & have always showed up the same-day to address concerns. Even when stretched thin, they still get the job done, & we're very grateful for them.

We're very happy to call Cedarwood...

I want to preface this by saying you absolutely do not want to live here. It seems to be the place you get stuck and can’t leave due to having to sign your soul into their asinine lease. For starters the application fee is 400$ if that doesn’t scream run then idk what does. Money hungry slumlords is the name of their game.. They have absolutely no idea what is going on or what to do at all times. Let’s start with the fact that I decided to rent the club house (yes they charge you to rent the clubhouse which is listed as an amenity, yes it is 300 dollars). I had an event I needed a place fast. We walk in to set up and the club house is disgusting, rotting food in the fridge and spilled drinks all over the floor. If you’re going to charge 300 to rent the space, atleast take a stiffer wet jet to the floor. We end up asking a bit later if maintenance can turn the AC up as it was almost 100 degrees outside, instead they turned the AC completely off. My cake literally melted, everyone left because it was disturbingly hot. Of course when we tell the office “sorry I don’t know what we can do about that”. News flash they never know anything and they don’t have the decency to try to fix their mistakes. They also decided to change the end date of our lease to two months earlier than the 12 months we had signed for, as we were literally picking up our keys. Next up, chapter sociopath… maintenance came to “repair” our balcony (aka put a board on it which makes no sense bc the whole balcony needs redone, it’s a death trap). KNOWINGLY, (I heard the maintenance men laughing about the squirrels in there) they boarded baby squirrels into the balcony with no way to escape. Fast forward a few hours later, I have a mama squirrel crying and staring at me through the window. We call the office and explain, of course we get the “idk what we can do about that”. Lucky for them they got the squirrels out, because I was ready to rip the balcony off my damn self. Let’s take it back to the beginning. We are given the keys to our new apartment, laughingly this 1200$ apartment looks like it came straight from a 70s sitcom. Dingy, disgusting, dull, and it smells really bad. The apartment was FOUL. Piles of dead bugs, trash bags and beer cans, there was this green goo splattered all over the place that smelled fermented

. I’m sure if you lift up the 50 year old carpet, you would find a fat layer of mold and lost hopes and dreams. There were literal bugs crawling out from the carpet. Im pretty sure they didn’t have anyone actually come clean the apartment, as it seems they have don’t have enough staff for that. Nothing actually works either, the dishwasher? Who is she? The A.C? Don’t know her either. Don’t worry your electric bill will be higher than a Beverly Hills mansion though. Our third floor apartment flooded because they don’t maintain anything here. Tell me why we had to live with wet floors for over a week? It smelled so bad..The washers and dryers are also disgusting too, and you’re lucky if they work so scratch that right off the amenities. When you call the office to get them fixed “sorry that is not our department”. You’re excited about 2 POOLS?!?! Yea don’t be bc chances are one of them will be down the entire summer and the one that is open will be a beautiful green take on Shreks swamp. if you need a cheap apartment, literally any option is better than here. You have homeless people sneaking into buildings, car break ins and LITERAL dumpster fires. Also last but not least, if you decide to rent a garage, note that it is not private. The whole building has access to your garage and yes they will use it. I have walked in there late at night to find people in there smoking and breaking into our car in our garage LOL. Not to mention the creepy maintenance men are said to have sticky fingers when it comes to belongings in garages. I’ve noticed a few of the “good reviews” are fake profiles, so don’t trust these people. You’re better off pitching a tent in Dahmers backyard than...
