Edit - more than a year after my review (below), I’ve also found that they have the BEST PIZZA in Akron! (in my opinion). After a great Neptune salad again tonight, I just ordered a pizza for my freezer to eat next week (350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes). The Basement in the Valley has great food in general, but the pizza is OUTSTANDING!

I found my new GO-TO spot for watching sports! My wife and I had been to this bar in the Valley when it was under a different name (can’t think of the name off hand), and we enjoyed it then. Now, a couple of years later, we went there last night. It’s remodeled and BEAUTIFUL! Great atmosphere for drinking, eating and watching sports. It is all dark wood decor, like an Irish pub. The two bar staff waitresses that waited on us were very nice.
The bar now expands all the way across the far wall, so is basically about 50 feet (or more) of bar seating. Also has nice tables with a good amount of space between. And WALL TO WALL BIG SCREEN TVs! There’s basically not a bad seat in the house for watching sports. The menu is huge at reasonable prices. I had the Neptune salad, it was good, with lots of shrimp cocktail and crab meat. It was almost all lettuce, though. Could have used more sliced veggies.
Highly recommend this sports bar! 10/10. Great to have it on this end of town, too, where it’s a closer drive than some of the others, like the ones in Montrose. We live near Firestone High School. It’s a 5-6 minute drive to The Basement. We will definitely be...
Read moreUpon arrival to this location, my friends noticed that there were children present inside the bar/restaurant. After choosing a seat, my friend asked for a Soda Water and was asked for an ID because “you need to be 21+” to be in there or ask for anything, despite the presence of children. The bartender was extremely rude, began yelling, and refused to give the water due to the initial friend not having her ID. In an effort to deescalate the situation, another friend requested a water as well and presented the man with a valid ID. The bartender became aggressive, proceeded to yell even louder, and point his fingers in their faces, before eventually shouting that the whole group needed to “get out”. Majority of the interaction was caught on video and posted to social media, and we will continue to share the footage on all social platforms. This type of behavior and service was both unprovoked, unnecessary, and after years of visiting this establishment, we will never be back. We will be sure to let everyone we know, never to order from, or step foot inside this establishment from...
Read moreMe and my family usually come here when we come into town to visit. Each time they have accommodated all of us as a walk in and there’s at least 10-11 of us every time. But this most recent time was phenomenal. Christian, the Chef, offered to make us some free appetizers that weren’t on the menu. Trial apps if you will. Elephant Ears, a fresh Tomato Basil Flatbread, and a “Pierogi-like” dish. All three of these dishes were AMAZING. The Elephant Ear was the best we had ever had and we’re better than fair ones. The flatbread was extremely fresh. It felt like a home dish because of how fresh it was. And me personally, I don’t like any sorts of pizzas or even tomatoes and I ate the hell out of this flatbread. The pierogi-like dish was so soft and tricked your mind into thinking it was pierogis. Christian needs some recognition man. He even offered more!! This guy needs some recognition, a raise, and to get these items on the menu because of how good they...
