Read moreGo see the Hunchback of Notre Dame, this is a production you don't want to miss. It felt like we were at a Broadway theatre and the cast had been putting this show on for weeks, not days. Marissa Leenaarts, Ed Ridley, Jason Smith and rest of the creative team knew how to put together a spectacular cast, and they got all the actors to give the performance that when the intermission and then the end came, you could here the people around us saying "WOW". Tony Heffner played Quasimodo with skill and sang his songs and you really felt that he was Quasimodo in some past life. Thomas Baumgardner had to feal thrilled with his performance, I know that he was perfectly cast for the role of Frollo. And then came Brooke Lytton, as Esmeralda, she captured our hearts in seconds, especially when she sang duets with Quasimodo and Phoebus Du Marin, played by one of our favorite Weathervane stars, Jonathan Merechant. We have watched Jonathan play starring roles for years, and the experience from those many roles was evident in the performance he gave us today. Keep expanding Johnathan, can't wait to see you on the big screen some day! As far as the rest of the cast, All I have to...
Read moreWe have seen different plays over the years, and enjoyed them thoroughly, loved Murder on the Orient Express, except the smoke used in the play choked me up (allergies). What I do want to say though is we were so excited about "Come From Away". My mom was born and raised in Newfoundland. The acting was phenomenal as well as the singing. The way the actors tugged on our heartstrings and also made us laugh was brilliant. However, the "F" bombs were highly unnecessary. There's no way this is a family play. It put a sour taste in our mouths, and we were ashamed to let any of our friends know we went to the play. On YouTube, and their website, The Newfoundland Tourism Bureau has many short, cute commercials on the dialect and words used by Newfoundlanders, you could have used one of those, ie. 'Lord Liftin' is one of them. My mom read the book and does not recall the F word. It definitely took away from the play. Thank God, for the exceptional acting and singing of the female airline pilot and the incredible supporting cast to pull the show together. We are almost scared to buy tickets for another play just in case, swearing is...
