Happy Tails Thrift Shop — Local services in Akron

While shopping I found an item that was on the floor by a shelf (not uncommon as there are a lot of items on the ground in baskets etc. there from what I saw). I picked it up and put it in my basket. A few minutes later an employee comes up to me and goes “oh here it is you took this!!!” She then reaches down and TAKES THE ITEM OUT OF MY BASKET. She said “this was on hold for someone and they decided they wanted it so hope that’s okay”. No! It isn’t okay! Number one, the item was on the sales floor with absolutely no tag or anything on it that said “sold” or even “on hold” and then I am proceeded to be embarrassed in front of others to make it seem like I TOOK this item from someone?! The item was not on hold! It was not behind a counter, in a cart, nothing. The person should have given it to the cashier or kept it in her own basket if she wanted it. I was extremely disappointed in the manner in which this was handled. I cannot believe they would come searching for it and take it out of my basket. I hope when that employee goes shopping anywhere people don’t come up to her and take things out of her cart and make her feel the way she made me feel. I would not...

Was just in this store on Saturday April 12 2025, just before closing. My daughter is 6 months pregnant and needed to suddenly use the restroom. The older lady told us she couldn't use the restroom, it was a health concern. The older lady told her to walk to McDonalds!!! Looked it up, this is totally illegal per Ohio code Title 41 Labor and Industry, Chapter 4173 section .02, Use by certain customers of employee restrooms, House Bill 281. Well-organized thrift store with fair prices where your money goes to a great cause. I've found several nice little treasures here. However, there is one employee (volunteer?) that is so awful that I won't even check out if she's at the counter, which she doesn't seem to be as much lately. I've heard her complain that she needed a break from customers and once, when I was discussing with my family buying a costume (for a store display) she interrupted and snidely asked whether I thought it would fit me. It was so unnecessary, so mean, and completely unprovoked. Having said that, one bitter woman doesn't stop me from shopping and donating here.
