There is only one bakery in Albuquerque and it is BitterSweets Bakery. Clean and fresh, those were the words that came to mind when my neighbors and I came into the store to order a cake for my spouses 71st birthday.
We were distracted by the cupcake display. Yes, we took some home with us. We were greeted by Ashton, the owners daughter. We sat down and I gave her the photos and words I wanted on the cake. She took a grid patterned notebook and began to lay out the cake. It was obvious she knew what she was doing. I do not impress easily but I was impressed. She was very professonal and appeared to be in her early 20's. I asked how long she had been doing this. She said 4 years. I figured right out of high school. Then she told me she was 17. My neighbors and I were astonished. Math was never my strong suit but that means since she was 13. We were so impressed by her demeanor and maturity that she was the topic of conversation on the trip home. We were provided with samples of fillings and settled on raspberry and lemon. They were to die for. For what we ordered the price was very reasonable.
Guests thoroughly enjoyed the cake which had a religious and whimsical theme. Everyone wanted to know where we bought the cake. I am sure we generated more new customers. I talked up both the bakery and Ashton.

Read moreOrdered a cake for my daughter's quince. The cake was amazing, delicious, delivered exactly on time, and beautifully decorated. Great product. Everyone asked about it. The buttercream was not grainy from the sugar, cake and filling flavors were perfect together, and all of it - including the extra sheet cake - were of exceptional quality.
They lost a star because of ordering practices. Every time we went in the store, a different person answered our questions and no one has a consistent explanation of what goes on. We had to verify the order 3 times, and they don't write out any details on the receipts, so you get an order with a "total" - no itemizing - which causes the price to fluctuate depending on who you talk to. We finally had to work directly with the owner. Make sure you ask them to write everything down, and speak with Deobrah, the owner, to order your things because she does not agree with her employees on pricing and decorating. After we verified with one employee how the cake would be designed, Deborah had a totally different idea so we had to go back in and the price kept shifting. The employees are friendly and professional, but I feel like they can say one thing that you are counting on being accurate (design and price), but then Deborah can change all that and it can affect the cost, so I would say just go straight to the top.
Other than that, the cake was delicious. Perfect...
Read moreI ordered 24 cupcakes for 103 dollars for my grandson's 4th birthday. When I arrive to pick them up almost an hour after pick up time they were still not ready she said they needed to be frosted which only took them 5 minutes to frost so it was rushed. When I got home the frosting was sliding off some of the cupcakes and they were really small. When I called to ask about the size of the cupcakes they said it was standard size I really thought they were going to be the size of the cupcakes that they sell in the front that's why I was willing to pay almost $4 a cupcake but I was wrong. I could have spent $10 at Walmart and got the same cupcakes I was so disappointed I even felt like crying because I felt so cheated and there was nothing I could do about it when I called it was basically my fault. Next time I will definitely read the reviews because the reviews for cupcakes were all very poor I was trying to support local companies. Please read reviews and make sure you ask all the questions and actually see the size of the cupcakes before you purchase so you don't have to go through the same...
