Idle Time Family Center — Local services in Alexander City

Well took the family to Idle time. I guess the bowling was ok. But the food was horrible. If you want something to eat good luck. I had to hunt down 1 of the 2 employees they have. Then I tried to order some fries but they didn’t have the fryer on. So it would’ve been a 30 min wait. Ok so I just ordered some nachos. The chips were old the cheese had a horrible taste. I took 1 bite and threw them away. Then after we bowled a few games we decided we skate for a while. It took 20 mins for them to find a left foot and right foot match to our sizes and when the finally did they were in horrible condition. Broken laces, jammed wheels just no good at all but we made the best of it until I started getting a blister. So I figured I’d pay 2 extra dollars and get some roller blades. So I go pay walk back to the counter and again 20 min to find a matching pair. But the straps were broke and they wouldn’t tighten up. By then I’m frustrated I don’t even ask for my 2 dollars back we just left. So my recommendation. If you just wanna go do some bowling yea why not. But bring your own food. We've moved to the area this last year - and have two tween/teen kids with us. Alex City has little to offer in terms of entertainment- we love the area but can't wait for some new businesses to come in. In the meantime- Idletime and the Playhouse movie theater are the extent of entertainment options here. While locals do come here on the weekends - the facility is in a sorry state of disrepair. Little to no maintenance or upkeep has been conducted on the building and especially the roller skate area - and it's all original from the most likely 70's - including delapitated bathrooms and carpeting that has never been replaced. This facility has potential - just wish some love was put into it to provide a nicer place for parents/kids to hang out and have fun. I understand as a private business owner in today's economy and lack of staff and astronomical costs right now how difficult it is to keep a facility such as this operational - just wish it had been kept up all along instead of letting it fall to...
