Gannon's Gourmet Shop — Local services in Allentown

I was a loyal Gannon's customer until this past weekend. I live across the street and am there on a weekly basis. This time I went on a Saturday afternoon at 3 PM to get my favorite cranberry-almond chicken salad. Due to it being late in the day, they had one medium-sized container left. I asked the Gannon employee how much it would cost for that one container because I only had a $10 bill in my pocket. He weighed it and told me $10.65. He proceeded to take 2 forkfuls out of the container to make it less than $10. I was appalled. For 65 cents he literally pulled out a piece of chicken and a few grapes just so he didn't have to give me the "extra". I would have understood him doing that if it was a Thursday or Friday and they could have added that small amount back to their big bowl so it could have been sold. But on a Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock when they are about to close up for the weekend he put it into another container. I couldn't believe it. Yesterday I was very disappointed in the way a return was handled. I have shopped at Gannons for many years spending +- $60 per week. I am there every Thursday afternoon! So last week I couldn’t get there until Saturday. I saw they had their quiches were marked down to $10.95 and their quiches are always delicious so I bought one. I pulled it out to make it Thursday night to find it has spoiled. When I went to return it, I wasn’t even interested in cash. I would’ve just exchanged it or gotten a store credit since I’m there every week. But the woman said to me well, we only guarantee our food till Tuesday not understanding at all what she meant I asked and she said well, we make it on Tuesdays. We sell it Thursday through Saturday and it’s only guaranteed until Tuesday and our customers should then freeze it if it goes beyond Tuesday and she said that was their recommendation. I said well when do you tell your customers this I’ve never heard it in the many many years that I’ve been coming there.
