When moving back to PA from Connecticut, I needed a jeweler here that I could trust with my century-old engagement ring. As the sister-in-law of a family who’s been coming to Susan Bella for years, I took their advice and I couldn’t be more pleased with the care, personal attention and craftsmanship of the staff. After accidentally snapping the shank of my antique, hand-made ring, (during the height of worldwide pandemic) I immediately emailed Susan Bella to find out when the state would allow them to open to the public. Within hours, Susan herself responded sympathetically, and told she would let me know the day they reopened to assess the damage and repair my ring. Sure enough, a month later, I was emailed the day they reopened. I was called with an estimate for the repair 3 days later, and after only two weeks I had my ring back in hand, looking absolutely flawless and as original as possible, as I asked. Buyer beware!!! We brought my wife’s custom made (designed and built by another jeweler no longer in business) engagement ring to simply have a broken prong repaired. When we went to pick it up, we were charged for services we never agreed to. Services that changed the overall appearance of the custom ring. When we questioned why this was done without our permission, we were fed misinformation and then they tried to justify it by saying “it’s their standard protocol”.

To be fare, Suzan did agree to refund that portion of the bill and make further repairs to return the ring to its original appearance, but talk about deceptive practices. “Standard protocol” to charge for services a customer never gave permission for you to do?
