I dropped my phone off to have my broken screen repaired, and paid $150 for the service. When I picked it up, I noticed my Touch ID wasn't working anymore, and the touch screen would randomly stop working. I was told by Gordon, the technician, that he would schedule an appointment with the Apple store, put a broken screen on my phone, and get a NEW phone for me. I went ahead and backed up my phone to iCloud in order to prepare for my new phone.
I went to pick up what I thought was going to be my new phone, and was handed the same exact phone, except with all my data erased. I asked him why my data was gone if it's the same phone, and his exact words were "I don't know." He claimed that the Apple employee wiped it right in front of him before repairing the screen. I can't seem to wrap my brain around why he wouldn't ASK them why they were wiping his customer's phone. That's absolutely terrible customer service, and shows that he doesn't care.
I took my phone and went to the Alpharetta Apple store to talk to Ariel, the Apple technician who worked on my phone, and was told that Apple employees do NOT (and aren't even trained to) wipe customer's phones of data, and if any data were to accidentally be erased, they would provide the customer with a brand new phone. I also confirmed this by calling Apple's customer service phone number.
The owner of UBreakIFix, Alex, called me and informed me that Apple would have given me a refurbished phone, which is why they decided to give me back my old phone. I'm not sure where he got that lie from, as I was told by two different Apple employees that they do not give customers anything besides new phones. The owner kept bringing up the fact that my phone is backed up anyway. iCloud does not back up apps, so now I am stuck trying to remember the passwords to all my apps, which is not something I want to do on a phone that isn't new. Also, I backed up my phone because I was told I was getting a new one. Why would anyone ever want a blank phone that isn't even new? He also told me to include in my Yelp review that I got my phone back "better" than what I brought it in as. I would much rather have a broken screen over ALL of my phone's data being erased!
All in all, I was told 3 lies during my experience with this company: I would be receiving a new phone My data was wiped by an Apple employee Apple would have given me a refurbished phone They made NO money off of me (They made $20 and refuse even a partial refund) *The owner claims he doesn't know how they lied.
Please learn from my mistakes and go to the Apple Store for your repairs! You don't even need insurance on your phone. It's also $130 compared to UBreakIFix's $150! Save yourself from their shady...
Read moreTerrible experience. Took my Google pixel 6 pro to this location for a screen repair. After being told I would have to wait 3 to 4 hours I returned to pick up the phone. The technician brought the phone out and turned it on to show me the repair and the new screen was installed and already broken again... This time they said it would only take about 10 minutes to replace the screen and rushed the repair. The next day the screen broke again. They had no more replacement screens available. I then traveled to another UBreakifix location, where I was forced to wait the entire 3 to 4 hours again, even though this is my third repair in two days in the Alpharetta store called ahead to verify the part was available and note that I was coming. When this location returned my phone they said the other location had failed to put a screen clip in which they could not replace because they did not have it and that was the reason for the damage on the screen. So, I've been charged $312 for 9 hours of my personal time and effort to get a fraudulent repair. I've asked for contact from management with no response. Additionally, my phone is still missing a piece underneath the screen apparently. As proof of this I have logged photos from the alternate ubreakifix location's computer noting how I was ripped off. Ubreakifix claims that Google never supplied the clip underneath the screen in the original OEM purchase.... Very disappointed that I have went through three screens from normal use on a brand new Google Pixel 6 pro, I additionally utilized the Google website and my IEMI number for what Google site claims was a warranty repair. Ubreakifix claimed that this could not be a warranty repair and was unwilling to fix my phone unless I paid for it. Either way I have a brand new Pixel 6 pro that you break I fix. Charge me over $300 to fix. They've blamed the manufacturer's missing clip on Google and I'm still out money in three trips to ubreakifix and 10 hours of my life.... Shame on Google, shame on ubreakifix. If either of these companies have any integrity, somebody will reach out to me and make this right immediately. Additionally, I was informed I could not even have the original pieces back from ubreakifix to address this issue with Google. Ubreakifix says this is a Google policy. I'm not sure how you get to keep a screen that I paid for that came with the phone and the one that I paid to have repaired. I consider that...
Read moreMy son's Galaxy Note10+ suddenly stopped charging and when plugged in, would flash a red caution sign with a thermometer, although the phone did not feel like it was overheating. I called Samsung customer service and was told to bring the phone here, so I did just that on Monday, July 24th. The young guy at the counter was very nice and told me either the charging port needed to be replaced or the battery. He quoted me $47.99 for the port and $80.00 for the battery. I asked if there was a possibility that it could be both and he said likely not, but if that happened to be the case, they would call and let me know. The diagnostic was free and would take 2 days.
When I didn't hear from anyone by Wednesday at the promised time, I called to check the status of the diagnostic and was told the charging port indeed needed to be replaced and that it would be over $100 (can't remember the exact price because the guy was speaking so fast) AND also because the glass was cracked on the side of the phones face as well as the back glass, they both needed to be repaired per Samsung regulations. Those repairs added an additional $400.00+ to the repair. When I spoke to Samsung customer service, I made the rep aware of the cracked glass and never once did she say I would have to have it repaired in order to fix the other issue with the phone. I told whoever the guy was that I would be coming to pick the phone up because I could get my son another phone for what they were charging to repair his old one.
Today, I stopped by Mobile Care in Perimeter Mall and asked how much they would charge me to replace the charging port. The price was $50.00 FIRM. I asked if it would be necessary to repair the glass as well and was told it depends on how badly it was cracked, but if the replacement couldn't be done without doing further damage to the back glass, it would be around $75.00. I had my son's dad pick his phone up from uBreakiFix, we brought it back to Mobile Care and before we could even leave the parking lot, we were being called back to pick the phone up because the repair was completed. My cost? $54.00!!!!! The associate laughed when I told him that uBreakiFix said they are required by Samsung to replace cracked glass in order to complete any other repairs to the phone. He said he's never heard of...
