I would NOT recommend this store if buying furniture. The craftsmanship of the furniture coming out of this place is bad. Plus they lie about the Guardsman Warrantee. Guardsman does not honor a lot of things and read your warrantee because their is a lot of double talk; where they say they cover something and then state later they don't.
I would also agree with the purchasing experience was great, but that is where it ends!! The durability of the furniture is questionable, and the customer service experience is poor. They all talk nice but give you a slap in your face for repairs or replacement.
We spent close to $3000 on a leather sectional couch and ottoman with a 5 year Gold Guardsman Warrantee. We were told that if anything happens in 5 years that they would fix it or give us an equal replacement. Just a note that you must make the report within the week of it being damaged.
Our couch lasted 4 years and then the cushions wore out, even the ones we rarely sat on. Also the wood on the bottom started to chip and the color and leather started to flake off. I maintained that couch to keep the leather strong and clean as per Haverty's Guardsman Leather Care instructions.
Long story short, we had a problem with the couch and Guardsman did not honor all their warrantee. After reading their Guardsman Warrantee, it states that they cover certain things and later states that they don't cover those things they are supposed to cover. Haverty's also failed to honor their word of if Guardsman does not fix it they would replace it of equal value.
I told them I wanted a replacement. Over a week later they called my wife and stated they would either refund us the Guardsman Warrantee of $300 or give us 65% of store credit. This is not what I was looking for nor thought it was fair. I told them I felt they were baiting and switching their warrantee, product and promise. I stated that I would do no less than 80%. After 3 weeks I get a call from this store manager and he stated that when do we plan on coming buy to get our trade in of 65%? I told him the whole story of what happened and said that 80% is what I would agree to. He stated that he would have to talk to the District Manager and get back to me.
I get a call a little later and they agreed. When I arrived at the store, we looked and found some couches but not what we were looking for, nor the quality. The couches that would be comparable we still would have to invest over $1000 to get it. Then when I talked to the manager, Joel, he stated it was 80% of the couch and not the ottoman, which is so scummy. I had a bad taste in my mouth about the situation.
To backtrack a little, when I talked to Corporate and to Joel, they stated that they trained all staff and would not tell their sales people to say that Guardsman covers everything and if not they would replace it. The funny thing was when I was waiting for Joel, he was with other people stating the very words that he said they never train their sales people to say.
I am a Doctor, and I don't have time to play around. Push me to a point I will make it a point to call you out and tell everyone about your business practices. I am reporting their sales practices to BBB and to anyone reading this review.
1: What I have learned is do not trust the sales person as they are going to tell you anything to make a sale in this location. 2: Read fully all papers before you make any purchase on warrantees they offer, despite what they may tell you. 3: I implore mystery shoppers to test them to see how they bait and switch. 4: get their verbal promises in writing, because they are trying to get you to buy and entice you with plush and cozy feelings of security. 5: Do not get any couch or sectional with 1 singular cushion because you have to replace the whole couch to get the worn out cushion fixed, which is way more expensive. 6: I would never shop here again, and I still have to replace my couch. 7: GUARDSMAN WARRANTEE is CRAP and DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Read moreAs a long time customer of Haverty’s, my most recent experience has not only left me disappointed, but left me questioning if I’ll ever be a customer again. A little over a year ago, my husband and I purchased a couch from the Altamonte location. We were hesitant because it was a white linen couch filled with feathers. We were reassured by the sales manager that the feathers would not flatten, and would be restored with a light fluff; that any stain on the white fabric would come out with the Guardsman cleaner (which we purchased for an additional cost) and if something could not be fixed under the Haverty’s warranty or extended protection plan, that the piece would be replaced. We were also told that If at any point they could replace the part, the entire couch could be exchanged for another one equal to the cost. Fast forward just a little over a year...the fabric is pilling, the white has worn to a dingy grey, the feathers are completely flat and unfluffable. There are stains from my children that did not come out with the Guardsman cleaner and when I submitted a claim to Guardsman, it was denied because I didn’t specify that it was apple juice that was spilled. There was no concern for the pilling or flatness. I called the store manager who offered to send a tech out to see the couch. Scheduling this visit has been a task in itself and we were told that the only thing the tech could do free of charge is try to get the stain out. This was a VERY expensive couch that has been very well cared for for just over a year and yet it looks like it is 10 years old. In fact, when we purchased this couch, it was a new piece being sold at the store and has since been discontinued!!!! Clearly the product is not made with any type of quality. I would hope that Haverty’s would stand by their product or admit that the quality is lacking and stand by their name. At this point, even if the tech could resolve one of the issues, the fact remains that this couch is a piece of trash and will only continue to fall apart. So basically I have been sold a bill of goods, have had poor customer service from Haverty’s, and seem to be stuck with a discontinued couch that we spent $5000 on that cannot...
Read moreAfter stopping at no less than five different furniture stores, My wife and I found the perfect chairs here at Havertys. Interestingly, the two chairs we purchased are replacing two other chairs also purchased at Havertys. Those chairs have been well used for over 15 years.
My wife is very low-tech when it comes to furniture. She puts me in charge of buttons in the house. I was surprised to see that her first choice was a recliner with buttons that not only adjusted the feet and reclined the back but also modified head tilt. That was a feature we didn't know we wanted until we tried it out and had to have it.
More than that, the chairs have a tasteful design to the fabric instead of the endless seas of plain grays and browns that you'll find at other furniture stores. We bought recliners, but these recliners still have visible wooden legs and more slender features so they don't have a frumpy Grandpa chair look.
Have issues with mobility? Not to worry, the sales associate helped us out with a complimentary wheelchair that they have in the front of the showroom.
This is not a big box, furniture "to go" outlet with particle board dorm furniture made in China or other overseas locations. The chairs we purchased are produced with real wood, quality fillings and sturdy fabrics in North Carolina. While bearing a Made in the USA seal, the costs are in line with other furniture we have found of lesser quality.
Our chairs will took a few weeks to arrive to our home. Your order might be longer if you choose to have them custom-made with your choice of upholstery. The wait may not be ideal if you're furnishing a dorm room, but I don't feel it should be a deterrent if this is going to be part of your home for a decade or more.
I've edited this review and added a few photos of the chairs in my home. As you see, the...
