I've lived in Amarillo my entire life. I always looked at Goodin's as a high end local jeweler. When Samuel's Diamonds went out of business (where my husband purchased my wedding set), I needed my ring re-rhodium so I took it by Goodin's to see about getting this done. Before I get to what happened, let me just mention this was about a year and a half to two years ago.
I walked in and was approached by a nice blonde lady that seemed very helpful and sweet. I told her what I needed so she took my ring back to the jeweler. Herself and the jeweler come out to give me the bad news that my ring was cracked through the metal and told me they could not re-rhodium the ring and it could not be fixed where the crack was. They showed me the crack and proceeded to give me pricing on completely rebuilding my ring. Two prices, one white gold and one platinum. White gold was about $5600 and platinum was $6300 at that time. I was heart broken! My husband paid just about $6600 for the entire set but I understood the price of metals and was not upset with them about this. So, as heart breaking as it was, I stuck it in my jewelry box (they told me it was liable to break and loose diamonds if I wore it) until we were financially prepared to pay the re-build price.
Well, fast forward to last week. I came to work and was telling a co-worker about my ring and how much I missed it and how badly I wanted to get it fixed. He highly recommended I take it to the jewelry doctor and let them look at it. So, I take the advice and go see the owner (James) at the jewelry doctor. He takes the ring back to his jeweler (Monte) and James and Monte come back to me and say "good news! We can have this re-rhodium, sized, appraised and this crack fixed for $323.00 and it will be ready in 10 days!" I was in shock!!! You can't convince me that Goodin's doesn't or didn't know that it could be repaired. Highly disappointing and I will never step foot in this place again. Hats off to Jewelry doctor for being professional...
Read morePretty much done with the ugliness of these employees. My husband and I have been here multiple times a year ago my husband decided to stop coming here because of the blonde lady who was rude to him (he felt she was racist) despite that I continued doing business. We had been going here for years to get things fixed and or make a purchase for occasions. Adroitly I am repulsed with the customer service. I try to stay local meaning having to commute 90 miles to Amarillo for many things. However I encountered the most distasteful customer service here today! I needed a watch resized could have been done in a 5mins at most. 2 links removed. However the employees made it a point to say absolutely not “only on Saturdays.” Which I am glad as I had a few other people tell me they have had a not so welcoming experience. I definitely will not be back and will take my business elsewhere. So I drove down to the Jewelry Doctor and they did in 3mins to be exact. So people if you need a great experience take your business elsewhere. Highly recommend Jewelry Doctor Amarillo Tx or Diamonds Evermore in...
Read moreI took my wedding set in to be cleaned and repaired. At first, I was a little put-off by the young ladies who were working there. They were not very friendly, but were polite and knew their business. Since Goodin's had been recommended by a friend, I went ahead and completed the transaction. I received a call from Mr Goodin when my rings were ready. ( in a timely manner) He was very kind and polite. When I picked them up, I was so very pleased! They looked brand new, instead of 46 years old! I was so pleased, I left a second ring for him to work his magic on. The same young lady waited on me, and I realized that, perhaps, she's just very quiet and professional. I will be back and I will recommend...
