Staples — Local services in Ames

Horrible customer service and store. Went in to purchase a couple of dry erase boards. None of the prices where correct and the whole area was disorganized with nothing where it should be. We asked for help on prices and I asked why everything was was spread everywhere. I was told that we just happened to be in the most disorganized part of the store, only reason given. After getting prices figured out for what we wanted we ( my wife and I) walked to the other side of the store searching for desk calendars. While looking for the calendars we noticed the whole store was a mess, not just the area we where in. It was also obvious that the floors had not been vacuumed in a long while, just a dirty place. We found the calendar by the way! When we checked out it also had the wrong price on it. Supposed to cost 5.99 but rung up at 8.99. They have a stack of them by the check out stand with a huge sign stating 5 .99. This store needs some attention from management or a corporate office representative. I know times are tough but come on. Show some pride...

The place is a disaster. Unable to find anything ever and the latest trip was beyond disgusting and a complete nightmare of fall risks/item fall risks. Past that mess and the shelves themselves were all but barren with inventory left on carts with the excuse I've heard many times over of remodeling or redoing the floor.

The prices for everything including clearance items are many times that of Walmart or Amazon and the quality isn't anything extra to call home about or of a variety that is special to the store like Target or other stores that would merit the price hikes.

They do have a few finds that are worth the stop-in every now and again but the location, mess all over the store, inventory issues, price gouging, lack of staff willing or able to assist, make this store one I ONLY stop by if I absolutely need to or happen to be visiting one nearby.

The last couple of years it has gone from a 3-4* store to a .5 star() or nil/negative star() establishment. Truly sad how these stores lose management and inevitably shut...

VOPE- BROOKE & ALEX DO A GREAT JOB!! SERVICE “ABOVE & BEYOND” THEIR CALL OF DUTY!! Having a little trouble getting around these days since I have been crushed, but Brooke met me at the front door and offered me a cart and ran inside and grabbed the items for me. Hard to ask for help, but I had a great time getting to meet both Brooke and Alex. It was well worth the drive from Ankeny up to AMES. Keep up the good work! GODSPEED JOHN 3:16
