I shopped here on many occasions until I noticed that every time I left the store I was followed out by management and security. Both would attempt to be inconspicuous in their efforts to monitor my wife and I while we shopped. On multiple occasions I did not want to assume that profiling was the cause but over time you realize that you are in fact being profiled. After my 20th time in the store after leaving I observed the manager watching me as I left. I finally decided to address the issue and spoke with the manager and security on the behaviors I witnessed and asked why they would treat my wife and I in such a fashion. The security guard "Mike" became very confrontational but in effort to avoid the circumstance from escalating I chose to maintain my composure and speak to the guard calmly. The manager insisted that I was not followed nor profiled at all yet he decided to tell me that they were not "white people" and did not do such things. That comment bothered me because as a civil servant (occupation) I service all people of all backgrounds and refuse to profile because I know how it feels to be judged for the color of your skin. This attitude was also surprising as this is considered a Palestinian market where the majority of the patrons are Muslim. A community that is constantly labeled and attacked. Some empathy was expected but none was given. The conversation ended unresolved, yet I was willing to shop at the store one last time. During my last trip I observed security once again, trying to be inconspicuous and watching my wife and I. I frequently saw "Mike" throughout the store acting as if he was assisting the other departments with tasks. Unfortunately this was a giveaway as his job is security. Not assistant clerk. Upon paying for my items and exiting the store, a young man, store employee approached my wife and I at the register where we were paying and quickly walked away to speak to another gentleman counting money at another register and then walked away. As we exited, "Mike" was observed seated in the customer service area looking at his cell phone. Again, derelict from his security duties and making the effort to avoid appearing as if he wasn't watching my wife and I leave. This was very disappointing as my wife and I really enjoyed shopping at this market (at one point), especially the cultural aspects of the market and it's products (except the meat). We spent $100 there on average trips and at one point really felt we had found a great place to shop. People can decide for themselves whether or not they want to shop here but if you care about being treated with dignity, respect and a positive shopping experience there are better places to spend your hard...

Got one of those trash throw away rags in the mailbox with a plethrora of, too good to be true specials... Guess what? It wasn't.
Without laying out any specifics, I was so astonished at the prices of their produce that I grabbed a few extra grocery sacks just in case, and boy I'm glad that I did!
The Produce was, for the most part, quality, and not ready to spoil, although there were a few items on sale (like the yams) that were less than what I considered as something to sit in my kitchen for a few days before being used.
Aside from that, I had a really hard time shuffling things about in the fridge after the virtual buying spree of tomatoes and beets and cilantro and peppers and potatoes and the list goes on from there.
I usually bring a sharpee with me to write on the packages and tell the checkers to slow down so I can make sure that what I wrote on those packages were actually honored by the grocery store's database, and Fresh Choice did not disappoint, all of their specials were accurately entered into their point of sale system and I was even more impressed with my checker who actually chuckled and asked, "did I go slow enough for you to verify all of the prices?". She was wonderful, friendly, and left me with a feeling that one has when they've been won over by the courteous and professionalism of a company's staff, and um... did I mention the prices?
The downside, if there is one, is that all of the periphery storelet vendors surrounding the main grocery store were pretty much failed bbusinesses, offering up pastries and deli and hot foods as merchants that rent space around the outer perimeter of the store - kind of like you would expect at a shopping mall.
But that's no consolation actually, as I didn't go there to buy items from a food court anyway, and I could really care less that they were failed businesses - I went there to shop for groceries, and I highly recommend this establishment for anyone who wants to fill their cart for about a fifth of the cost of what it would cost them at one of the big anchors with all of their waxed and unripe food.
Meat was very reasonable too, but there are a couple of places that beat them in the area, although you could not go wrong by patronizing their meat and fish department.
My recommendation? Try this place out. I give them five stars...
Read moreAs a loyal customer to Fresh Choice, I had a very unfortunate encounter with a manager named Maria last night, on 06/14/17, around 6 pm. I purchased one papaya, and decided that I would like to purchase another. In doing so, I was instructed by supervisor Mario that I should put the first papaya into my car, and then return to the store to purchase another one. I did as I was suggested, and I got my papaya and continued to purchase it. The pleasant cashier handled my transaction after I waited in line for about 10 minutes; as she was nearly finished, the manager, Maria came by. In front of other patrons, she stated that she had seen me buy a papaya earlier, and that she "does not want to sell me this papaya". The cashier was as annoyed as I was, and was sympathetic and replied with, "I already began the transaction." To which Maria responded, "Cancel it." Apparently, Maria had become notorious for giving customers more trouble than necessary for simple "issues". I was very displeased by how she handled the situation, the transaction nearly complete after I swiped my credit card. After Maria gave the cashier and I such a hard time and attitude, I told her that I was going to report her, to which she responded "Go ahead." I am very unimpressed with Maria's professionalism and customer service; especially being a manager. She's undeserving of the position and is a terrible representation of the company. She was also hesitant to provide me the number of her superiors, when...
