UPDATE: Okay, I have tried to like this place because it is SO close to my house and changing doctors is SUCH a hassle, but I will never be back. Today my son had an appointment at 7:40am. There was snow, so I tried calling the day before to make sure there was no cancelation but couldn't get through. I got no email. No phone call. No text. Nothing. So we showed up. The clinic is closed. When I called to figure out what the deal was, the lady actually lectured me about my tone and told me I should have called to make sure the appointment wasn't canceled. (She also said I was called, which I was not. My phone shows no voicemails and no missed calls.) I have put up with a lot from this clinic (not detailed here) but I draw the line at being chastised by a perfect stranger for my crabbiness about the situation and treated with no compassion or given an apology when I am waiting in the cold with my kid who has health problems outside your closed clinic. The lady on the phone has clearly had no training in serving patients. She could have commiserated with me like a human, "Oh my gosh, you poor thing! Out in the cold in the snow storm with all your kids who couldn't go to school today and the clinic is closed. How confusing. I can't believe you never got a call. You must feel really frustrated. I am going to let someone know this happened. I'm afraid your son's appointment was canceled, but here's the number you can call to get that rescheduled." Instead, she was offended at my tone. No one was blaming her! That's probably how her voice would sound too if she were desperate to get her son to a doctor and confused and frustrated upon repeatedly being told she was called yesterday when she was looking at her phone were there were no calls or voicemails yesterday afternoon and explaining that She. Was. Not. Called. This person made no attempt to find where the system broke down (Ex. Maybe they called a different number; let me see here.). She made no attempt to solve my problem (Ex: Let me put you through to the schedulers.). She didn't even make an attempt to empathize with my situation. A good number of patients are coming to your clinics to see the doctor because they have problems. You have to expect to see them at their worst and meet them there. I have only had good experiences at the Allina clinics, so (even though it's less convenient) that is where I will be transferring my family's care. :( Calling this place is a headache: Have been on hold for 30+ minutes with no option to be called back. Forced to do voice commands rather than press numbers to be directed. This is so difficult! What if it's loud where I am? What if I am trying to maintain some privacy and don't want to say why I'm calling aloud? What if I'm trying to save my voice? What if English is not my first language and the system has a hard time understanding me? You should always have the option to use touch tone. Totally unclear whether this is an Urgent Care where I can just walk in, or whether I need to have an appointment. It says "Urgent Care" on the sign, but I'm hearing from neighbors that it's only a UC during certain hours. Very frustrating. I could have walked there and back to ask my question in the time I have been on hold. In fact, I think I...
Read moreI was misdiagnosed at this urgent care clinic with Eustachian tube failure following sudden hearing loss to one ear. This occurred with 2 providers: at my first urgent care visit the day after losing hearing and one week later at my follow up visit. I followed the prescribed course of treatment with no improvements. This delayed time critical intervention for my actual condition : Sudden Sensoneural Hearing Loss (SSNHL) with Tinnitus If I had been properly diagnosed and immediately prescribed oral prednisone, my hearing may have been quickly restored. Fortunately, on the advice of a friend, I had made my own back up appointment with Dr. Ilya Perepelitsyn, a top specialist at ENTSC in St. Louis Park. I saw him about 2 weeks after my first appt at MHealth Fairview. He examined me and immediately told me I was the victim of a misdiagnosis and useless treatment plan. He told me mine was an emergency condition which should have been treated as such. He also told me that only a provider - not a patient - can properly diagnose this condition as the symptoms can attend more than one illness. He educated me on sudden Sensoneural hearing loss (SSNHL) , immediately prescribed both oral steroids followed by steroid injections through my eardrum simultaneous with 20 hyperbaric oxygen treatments at Abbot Northwestern Hospital. He also prescribed an MRI to rule out a possible benign tumor on the auditory nerve. ThIs is the standard treatment pathway for SSNHL. He told me that an immediate correct diagnosis and proper intervention would have given this treatment a higher probability of success. My hearing has not returned and I am speaking with malpractice attorneys. I very strongly recommend you avoid this clinic to avoid receiving incompetent medical cares. I am moving to Allina...
Read moreBEWARE of Fairview's billing practices!!! We have had 2 separate incidents with their billing. One where they sent me a bill for a visit that my ex took my son in to be seen for (separate insurance, separate household, we've always paid separately). When i called, Fairview refused to update the bill to his dad's account and told me I needed to pay it because they put the charge under my account. They said it's not their problem and they don't get involved if the parents handle paying separately and to contact his dad if I wanted to be reimbursed, even though it was their fault for billing under the incorrect account. It's crazy because the bill they sent me was under my ex's insurance which is not even associated with my account.
The second was when we took my son to urgent care and he had a chest x-ray done. They charged us 2 co-pays plus the radiologist charge, even though it was all done at the same clinic during the same visit. When I called, I was bounced around and spent hours on the phone, with the end result still that the charge is correct because they charge separate for x-rays and the doctor. We were not made aware of this until we received the bill and I called. Note, this was for an ongoing issue he'd been experiencing for 6 months so we already went to 2 other clinics that did chest x-rays and they did not charge separately. It's robbery.
I will say, the doctor was thorough and we liked her, however due to the billing practices we won't be going back.
If you do go here, proceed...
