We decided to go here on a Sunday afternoon around 4:30pm. This was solely a reward trip for my 9 year old. I do have to say, it was quite a lot of fun for all of us. He did the claw work and dad and I helped. There was also a really nice worker who also stepped in to help with some of the more difficult machines. You can really tell he loves his job and is amazing with younger kids. It was not crowded(Like some of the reviews seem to suggest). We all had an AMAZING experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone just looking for something quick, easy, and fun to do with your kiddo.
The prize quality is what shocked me the most. I was expecting cheaply made stuffed animals. I was dead wrong. After he got his first stuffed animal(a neon orange alien) and handed it to me, I was very surprised to find it very similar to something you'd find at target. You can also trade in a large portion of the stuffed animals for prize points for other items(similar to how Dave and Busters has a prize vault you can spend points on prizes). My little opted to keep all of his stuffed animals.
The difficulty of the machines is nicely set. The claws have grips on them so prizes are easier to obtain vs a claw machine at say the Walmart arcade. Everything in this establishment was very well thought out and nicely balanced so its difficult but still prizes are obtainable. The animals are placed nicely and not crammed in so deep nothing can be pulled out.
They also offer birthday parties!
We will DEFINATELY be...
Read moreHeard about this place, thought the concept sounded interesting, so me, my wife & 4 little ones went to go check it out. Decided to show up shortly after 3pm when they open to beat the crowds, but it was already an absolute zoo. There had to be at least 40 people crammed in this tiny arcade. It took a good 5-10min of standing just to get to the card kiosk. Not because there was a line to use it, but because there was just THAT many people there playing or just standing around. And of course this establishment uses the same over-priced arcade card system all the modern arcades use that convert your money to "points" to distract you from realizing your dropping $5, $8, $10 per game. I split $30 between 3 cards, 1 for both my older kids, and a third to share with my younger ones. Within 5 minutes my 2 older kids came back upset saying they could only afford one game each. One child said he had 4points left, the other said she had 19. Because for some stupid reason the price per game is some absurd odd number like 21, or 39. Gone are the days of knowing exactly how many quarters a machine costs to play. My littles did enjoy playing the smaller less expensive machines, but after 15min we were all ready to leave. I wish they opened earlier then 3pm, that way I could bring my little ones in before the after school rush. I get that it's the "cool new hip" place to bring your kids in Ankeny right now, but tonight was just unbearably...
Read more1st time visiting Clawz last night with our girls ages 3 & 14. Safe to say we all had a BLAST! đ From the moment we walked in to the moment we left Hannah, Shannon, and Dan were BEYOND GREAT! Hannah was so helpful with it all.... explaining how to load play cards at the kiosks to showing us the ins and outs of the claw machines. She also threw in a few free plays when they girls would miss getting the prizes they really wanted. Dan and Shannon were knowledgeable and very patient when explaining the redemption process as the girls decided on which prizes to keep or exchange for a level up. Everyone leaves a winner!! Definitely a great overall fun filled family experience. We will be returning...Thanks Clawz...
