I purchased 3 bras for myself recently at Busted in Ann Arbor. The fitter said the band size I'd been wearing (34) was wrong and my true size was a 32. I believed her and tried on several bras, settling on 3 to buy. Even though the 32 felt tight, my fitter kept telling me that it'll loosen up, I'm just not used to wearing the correct size, and to "wear them around for a while" to make sure they fit.
I wore each bra for a total of 1-3 hours, tops, and each one restricted my breathing and dug into my skin so much they left marks for hours. I have no idea why the fitter thought a size 32 was the correct size for me.
I brought them back to exchange and was told I was out of luck with all three bras - over $250 - because one was on sale and because I'd taken the tags off, though the tags were in the bag, and because I'd worn them each for very short amounts of time to see if they were the right fit.
At the time of purchase - -They did not tell me that "on sale" means "final sale" and couldn't be exchanged (they don't give returns, period.) I'm certain of this because I wouldn't have bought an expensive bra that I couldn't even exchange if I wasn't sure it was the right size. -They did not tell me that if I took the tags off the bras, I couldn't exchange them. -They did not tell me that "wear them around for a while" means "for 10 minutes" according to what the owner told me today.
Here's the deal: if you have unusually strict return policies (which they do - I had just RETURNED bras at Von Maur 10 minutes before - with all the tags removed and in the bag - and I've returned bras countless other times at other stores), that needs to be clearly communicate by your employees and displayed clearly where customers will see them. "Clearly" to the owner meant on the receipt, which no one looks at, and stated on a small placard by the register on light pink paper with a white background. Word to business owners: prioritize displaying your return policies so that they stand out, not match your branding and aesthetic. Most importantly, if you sell expensive bras and have rigid return policies, your fitters need to be better trained to recognize what the right fit means.
I'm angry that I'm out so much money and left with bras I can't wear. What an absolutely ripoff of a store with terrible communicated policies. I'll certainly never shop at Busted again and I'd give them zero stars if it...
Read moreBye bye Victoria secret! I was kinda skeptical at first going into the store. I’ve never been to a bra shop other than Victoria secret and I thought it was going to be some expensive bras and bras I wouldn’t even like. When I walked in, it’s was nice and neat inside Aether greeted me and took me right in (you could schedule an appointment). She first took my sizes (shirt off) and asked me what type of bra I was looking for. I told her an everyday bra and she brought me exactly what I wanted. I got to try on many different brands and sizes. I learned so much about my breast and how they should fit in a bra! I thought I was a 42DDD turns out I’m a 36J!! Aether was great! She had patience, she made sure everything I tried on fit and educated me why each bra fit the way it does. There’s so many options you can choose from. I even brought up how I was looking for a high support bra online to workout in and THEY HAD THOSE IN STORE TOO! I got to run in the store and do jumping jacks in the high support bra and it was the best bra I ever had! I ran track for 11 years and I never had a great bra that kept everything together until I went to this shop! I came in for mainly my sizes and maybe 1 bra, but I came out confident with a high support bra and comfortable everyday bra for these big apples! It’s not that expensive but you do get what you pay for! Walked out paying around $100. ALSO! Instead of a plastic bag, you get a high quality bag to reuse for shopping (pictured below). You also get to make an account and save the bras on your account that you would want to get later! Definitely will be coming back! Amazing customer...
Read moreI finally made my way to Busted Bra and it was an absolute wonderful experience. When I approached the store, I did not think it was for me due to the sexy items I saw in the window. Boy was I wrong, almost two hours later I truly felt like I had given myself some much needed self care while being educated. Elyce measured me and explained about how different countries size; she gave me my base measurement; brought in several bras; explained how the band and cup size work if one has to go up one band size; discussed bra care; showed me how to get the tissue in, etc. I have told a few people about my experience and ready to take my teenage niece so she can learn about proper fitting young. My money was well spent and I want to thank Elyce for being so patient. Unfortunately, the bras I picked were not in the store, and yet again Elyce saved the day by locating the items at other locations. I had the option to pick up at the Ann Arbor store upon arrival or have items shipped to my home. Elyce put my information into the system so it is known my sizes and I also asked her to put information regarding styles I was interested in. Did I say the experience was amazing... I cannot wait to go back to build my collection of correct fitting bras and ditch the ones from the big stores that do not fit smaller bust women correctly, i.e. Me (or use for lawn work). Thanks Busted...
