Greencastle Livestock Market — Local services in Antrim Township

I don't like to post things but , I thought people needed to know. My husband and I went to the auction today and I was so disappointed. When we got their the trucks were wrapped around the building. We waited patiently for over two hours when finally, I had to go to the ladies room. When I walked up the stair, there were men sitting at a table eating lunch. No lights on and no one seemed to be working. I guess they have to hold hands to eat! Even the office was dark. They told me outside that they were told it would be at least another hour. We had 10 head on our truck but there were several trucks packed to the brim! There was still cows inside that needed weighed before the next truck could be unloaded. We asked several trucks to move up as far as they could so we could get out, we couldn't wait any longer. My husband has an evening job. We should have had plenty of time to get there and unload, but didn't expect that kind of delay. It's pretty sad , they dont seen to mind taking your money but dont care about the animals. We will be looking for somewhere else to take...

All in all, things have been pretty decent with my previous visits to Greencastle Livestock Auction. I've bought and sold eggs, produce, poultry, farm related items, etc. Until this past Wednesday. I bought a flat of really nice looking large green peppers. That is until I got them home and unpacked them. Every pepper in the flat had either a hole or rot starting. Out of 13 peppers, I got 2 good ones. Now, I know they can't personally inspect every item brought in for the sale. But you also can't say that no one noticed. Especially when the guy holding them up for show just happened to pick the 2 good ones. From now on, I will ask to see the lot before bidding. And on the other hand, some adjustments need to be made at the check-in area. Can't tell me no one noticed. It was obvious. Since all peppers were placed good side...

Unprofessional, the lady in the office is rude. They don't know what customer service is. When unloading we stated how they needed to be sold. Cow calf pairs, bred heifers, etc. The guy unloading thought he knew more about it. Clearly not!! Took a week plus to get a check, had to pay them to get a new one for stopped payment because stated "they can't control the mail" clearly if it was mailed when they stated it shouldn't have been an issue. Definitely won't...
