FOR THE CURLY GIRLS: I wanted to see if I could change my 3a curls to s-shaped waves with a perm. I did this knowing that this salon doesn't have any posts or reviews about working with curly hair. My appointment was two weeks ago, and I feel I've given my hair a fair amount of time to see how it behaves with the perm.
I don't recommend it. The salon is nice, and clearly does good work on straight hair, but I'm honestly disappointed with my results. My hair is nowhere near the loose wave pattern I requested from my stylistāat best it looks like my natural curls relaxed a little. Most people can't even tell I recently changed my hair.
Cindy, my stylist, is lovely but I specifically asked if she can work on curly hair and she said she wouldn't know until she could see my hair in person. I asked if we should change the appointment to a consultation only first, and she seemed more concerned to lock in the $$$ making appointment than she did to ensure that she can actually work with my hair. When I arrived, she looked at it for less than 5 mins and said she could do it and we got to work. Three hours in, long after the solution had been applied and my hair irrevocably chemically damaged, she said the texture would be different than the video I showed her (a post from the salon). She said it would be tighter waves and not really s-waves because the girl in the reference video had shorter hair. She said this as the curl rods were being put in.
Once the rods came out, the waves looked like what I wanted. I waited 72 hours to wash my hair because I know my natural texture is strong. Now that I've been styling it for two weeks, I can see that my hair isn't much different than before I went in, except that (1) it's damaged now (obviously), and (2) the face-framing pieces have only a slight wave and are almost straight, while the rest of my hair pretty much retained its natural curls. That disparity looks a little weird.
The cherry on top is that I got charged $20 extra than I was originally quoted. $340 for basically the same hair, before tip. I do not recommend this place if you have naturally curly hair. I was up front that I have a lot of thick, coarse curly hair and I wish my stylist had been more forthcoming about the feasibility of going from curly...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall experience was meh. The lady who washed my hair was gently doing the top and barrel touched the bottom. She finished it so quickly and only did it once. I thought thereās a second round to fully massage/wash the scalp but she didnāt. Then she followed the instructions by the hair stylist Tina by drying my hair. The lady blew my hair with high heat and kept doing the same few spots which burning my ear and hair too. Honestly I never had anyone blew my hair this dry BEFORE the haircut. She kept combing it and said the layer which done by previous stylists doesnāt look right?? Was so confused as she kept combing the same spots trying to make it look good? Then finally after 20 min Tina came and cut my hair which was okay. And of course she had to spray water on my hair AGAIN cuz it was too dry!! Overall I do think they over priced it and the hair wash was a big NO, also the pre drying process that makes the hair fully dry before...
