The actual facility is easily a 5 star facility. Since this is primarily a Pickleball review the score is lower since Pickleball players have to deal with the glare from all the glass and the light gray lines aren't pickleball friendly a darker color would have been nicer. I've noticed a lot of new facilities that have multiple sports have issues for pickleball players since the new buildings have a lot of glass on windows and doors. The 6 outdoor courts are awesome and they are for everyone M-Sun 5am - 10pm. Read moreBeautiful facility with a variety of programs for seniors. There is a social and active side. I take my grandmother for chair exercise, games, and will try a craft or art class with her soon. 60+ members can sign up to have Meals on Wheels there during the day and Daniel who oversees this is very nice and patient. Susie is another standout on the staff. She is great with seniors.
Please note that your membership includes a charge for a pool that is not available. The facility has been open for a few months and the pool is still not complete. I understand there has been a contractual problem, but this is not a member’s issue and there should have been a fee adjustment.
On the fitness side, one of the pluses is that you can use your Peleton account with the bikes there., You can also set one up at the bike. Three are available, so you might have a wait, but it’s not been long so far. There is a decent amount of equipment in the weight room and the member clientele is good about keeping it clean. As with any gym, peak times are before and right after work hours so plan accordingly. The members are courteous overall with equipment usage.
On the minus side, it’s almost impossible to get into classes. When the signup period opens, everything fills immediately. They have a waitlist, but it’s usually long. The Gold memberships charge you for classes. I was told I could take these at other rec centers if I couldn’t get in. Not an acceptable answer. The demand should have been anticipated given that this center has been in the works for a long time.,
The indoor pickleball courts have already been reviewed here, but my experience has been that the indoor groups during the day are much more friendly and adhere to a paddle system. The outdoor courts are a public park and most people don’t acknowledge that they can’t hold a court for more than an hour when people are waiting. I’ve observed that the courts at night after closing at 10:00 are often littered with trash. Just a different group at night that is not necessarily...
Read moreFirst off the pros I want to give major kudos to the class instructors on the active side! Every single instructor is top notch and they all really care about the seniors they are instructing with proper form. The facility is really nicely done. The front desk does an overall good job of providing guest with good service. The cons The main issue is the inability to book and get into classes through the outdated computer system. Apparently the system has a glitch when people try to book online at certain enrollment times. It doesn’t appear to be a glitch to me since it routinely happens. Apparently none of the upper management has tried to communicate the issue properly or it might get fixed. Classes book very quickly but I do understand they need more instructors to be able to accommodate the classes. It’s very apparent the front desk has kind of been left alone to deal with these complaints without remedy of the situation. I feel bad for them. Hopefully over the next few months they will get it ironed out before more guest decide to leave. Arlington is better than this so please get...
