RED VEIN Escape — Local services in Ashland

I loved this escape room! I've done many escape rooms and this one is very unique. Lots of neat puzzles, great story line, and an awesome intro. We did the vampire one which is their hardest room. My main complaints are that the lighting is too dim. It was hard to see and read things without cell phone flashlights. A romantic restaurant lighting would have been a little better. My other complaint is the game master was a little too involved in the game. While I loved the commentary given whenever we would ask a question about the back story, there were a few times the game master gave us hints or pointed us in the right direction without us asking. We officially only used or asked for two hints but probably received closer to 4 or 5 hints that changed how we solved puzzles. There were definitely times when we got a bright idea and would have wasted 5+ minutes incorrectly trying to execute it but the game master redirected us after only 30 seconds or a minute. This not only changed how much time we wasted but also gave us too much information about how to solve the puzzle correctly when we never asked for a hint in the first place! Now some people newer to escape rooms might have appreciated this but I prefer no guidance unless asked.

I will definitely go back to do the other two rooms with some friends in the future and I hope they change them out regularly so we can keep...

Guys, this escape room is top notch! Ambiance in the waiting area is spectacular with LOTS of decor and details. Staff are really into it and you can tell they really care about your experience and their craftsmanship! While small in design, the rooms did not disappoint. Great flow and puzzles throughout the room with an attentive game master. We were able to do 20,000 Leagues with no hints and Richmond Vampire with 2 hints. We escaped both rooms. We also had time to check out PHOBIA! A 10 minute escape room in the PITCH BLACK! Lots of fun, but sadly, my team did not make it out of that one! I'm chomping to get back and try it again! Simple storyline (nothing complex--thankfully, I hate complicated back stories BEFORE you even start), missions/challenges were clear, STUNNING theming and decor, great mixture of types of puzzles, logical gameflow, and lots of fun! I highly recommend checking them out. There are SOOOOO many great small businesses and restaurants in walking distance as well in this sweet little town. Also, all you Randolph-Macon Students, this is walking distance and definitely a great & unique way to blow...

My wife and I are big escape room fans and have done 75+ rooms in Virginia and other states. We are always on the lookout for new places to visit and have been waiting a few months for Red Vein to open up. When we arrived, we were greeted and allowed to try out their 3 minute escape game waiting in the lobby. The waiting area was super nice and set up to go along with their theme. We went in with lowered expectations because they just opened up and they only have one room open currently. The moment we stepped into the room, the lowered expectations went out the door. The level of decor and immersion was amazing and you could tell right away that Red Vein is putting the best foot forward when it comes to competing in the Escape Room business. Aside from the decor, the puzzles were great and the engineering in the rooms was awesome. It was easy to see that plenty of time and effort went into preparing this first room.
