I love finding unique items at thrift stores and supporting small businesses. My daughter and I stopped by looking for furniture. My daughter stayed in the truck with my 9month old grand baby while I went in. I found a few small items I was planning on buying and was looking over a cedar chest. The chest was closed to begin with and to open it, I had to gently push the inner tray (with the original keys in it) off the inner hinges. I was examining the chest when it suddenly closed and wouldn’t open again. When I exclaimed about it, a slender-built male employee wearing a FedEx jacket standing nearby accused me of deliberately shutting the chest that he claims was open as he’d just shown it to someone and could prove it by the security cameras, which he couldn’t produce. After being SO RUDELY ACCUSED AND NOT APOLOGIZED TO, I put the items down and stated that after being accused of something I would never do, I walked out. I support small businesses until they do something to drive me away. After telling my daughter what happened, which she is a pretty much laid back person, she went into the store and went off on the male employee. I had the opportunity to spend the day with Liza Jackson and Matt Perkins at Second Hand Rose day before yesterday. The first thing about shopping here...everybody knows you name already so don't bother introducing yourself. The second thing..the smell. It's the best smelling store I've ever had the pleasure of visiting...the merchandise is orderly, well-marked with the owner's number set to a data base Matt quickly accesses as each customer approaches the register...there are gorgeous paints, hand thrown pottery ...fiesta ware...sideboards...children's furniture...antiques, quilts and accoutrements galore...I wanted to touch everything in the store, but the main thing I remember...I never wanted to leave that smell...delicious, clean and comfortable.. if you're looking for good used furniture second hand Rose in Ashland right off 13th Street is the best place to go we bought a beautiful loveseat there their prices are unbelievable and they do deliver with the little bit of an extra fee it's worth it if you don't own a try the staff there they help you and their furnitures always claim they have some awesome pieces not to mention they have curtains and pillows and bedspreads and pictures and paintings they have a variety of everything you could ever look for it they are one awesome...
