I was heartbroken when I got my Karastan oriental carpet back from being cleaned and I noticed that one end of the carpet was totally torn apart. It looked unsalvageable. I was so lucky when I looked on the internet and found an ad for Shehady's oriental carpet sales and repair. I really didn't think that there was much that could be done to fix it, but I wanted to give it a try. When I called, Wade Shehady answered the phone and even without seeing the carpet he assured me that his sisters are masters of the trade in selecting the right colors and weaving them to match the existing design. I was very excited. When he got the carpet he said that they would be able to fix it. They worked on it for 3-4 days and did meticulous work. I had to laugh when Wade told me when he wanted to look on the underside of the carpet they booted him out and they told him not to come back. In fact they put their weaving stuff in a certain position such that they would be able to tell if he touched anything. They were just so conscientious about their work and they didn't want even the slightest movement to interfere with their design. In spite of everything that Wade was telling me, I really did not expect the miracle that I got. The rug looked fantastic. The colors matched and there was no hint of the tare that was originally there. I couldn't believe it. I was a little worried about even touching it, but Wade assured me that it was stronger than ever.

To top it off his delivery men were very pleasant and polite and didn't leave until the carpet was placed exactly as I wanted it.

Oh and one more thing, his charge was reasonable considering the work that they did and the money that I saved by not needing to buy a new carpet.

I was referred to Shehady’s Oriental Rugs by our local Oriental rug cleaner here in Norfolk, VA. My young dog had chewed the corner off a lovely antique Sarouk rug that I had inherited from my mother.I was so upset and brought to tears… Our local rug cleaner told me the only place to go with the expertise and experience to repair my rug was to contact Wade Shehady, owner, of Shehady’s Oriental Rugs. He said they were a third generation business and considered one of the best in the whole country! My phone call with Wade was so comforting and positive. He assured me that he and his sisters, who do the re-weaving, could repair and restore my rug.Needless to say, they did a wonderful, expert job and you cannot tell that the rug had ever had damage! This was all done in less than a month! In the course of our conversations Wade informed me that he had recently acquired a beautiful, large Sarouk Oriental rug that he knew I would love. It was much larger but similar in color and style to the rug they had just repaired. After viewing photos and some more discussion I decided to buy it. The price was very fair. Both rugs were shipped back to me with appraisals included. I was absolutely thrilled with the repair of my rug and the beauty and quality of the large Sarouk! I called Wade Shahady regarding an Oriental Rug my Grandmother had purchased in Damascus in 1947. Eventually it was given to my mom who passed away last year. She always told me that I would inherit this oriental carpet, but I wasn't quite ready to install hardwood so that I could use the rug right away, and asked if it could be cleaned and stored. Wade asked me to send pictures of my room and my wall to wall carpet, that truly needs to go as it has flattened out over the years, but he told me to not store the rug and put it right on top of carpeting. I was reluctant this would work out, but I could tell he knew what he was doing. His workers picked up the rug, Wade and his crew cleaned it, repaired any worn traffic edges, removed the awful fringe that someone else had glued on, and pulled the natural fringe. When they laid it for me this weekend, I was amazed at the brilliant colors his process brought out. Everyone that has seen it is in awe, as it changed my entire room and really gave it a pop. Wade knew exactly how old this rug was, hand woven, etc. etc. He really knows his craft and I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone and everyone that has a valuable carpet.
