I’ve been shopping at this ReStore for years and have gotten a lot of stuff there. But after my experience today I am done with them. I bought a gas stove marked “tested” and gave away my old stove (it worked but had cosmetic issues). I had to get rid of my old stove to make room for the new one. I hired movers to bring the new stove from ReStore into my kitchen. I paid them $70 and was happily cleaning up the new stove. But the smell of gas kept wafting over me. The nice mover came back and re-checked the pipe and connections he had installed. No leaks were found. But the gas smell persisted. ReStore said they would come get the stove and reimburse me for the stove, but too bad about the $70 I lost. Then it emerged that they didn’t actually test the stove, they only plugged in the cord to the clock on the stove. So now i have no stove and I’ve lost $70. Why couldn’t ReStore meet me part way, like call an appliance guy to see if it could be fixed, or pay me half of what I lost? Nope, nothing. They are not out anything because that stove was donated. I the customer am really in a bind now. I mean i shop at ReStore for an economic reason. I’m upset they sold it to me untested (though marked “tested”) and then left me in a bad position with no stove and out...
Read moreThere are no bargains to be had in this store, which is well stocked and has lots of interesting possibly useful things. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The reason it can't rate 5 stars in my opinion is that frankly, it is very overpriced for used, second hand stuff. Their policy (in writing on the wall) is to price things at 1/2 MSRP/retail. The problem is that there is no reality check...no comparison of the intrinsic value of the item they offer used and dirty to buying new. I saw used (ew!) toilete seats for $6, when you can buy new for $10. There was a Gardner-Bender electrical wire fish tape (very well used, dirty, rusty) for $20; I bought a brand new Klein Tools one with a coupon at the local C&E for $15. And a Panasonic vintage wooden cabinet radio in need of significant cleaning--at least---for $45! At these prices they are simply not trying to "move the goods." I know their purpose is charity work, so I think the store merits 3 stars for that. But at the prices marked, they should give IRS charitable contribution slips with your purchase. My...
Read moreFirst and last time ever going there to shop!!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!!! Went to check out a very very rude guy employee came up and took glasses I picked up off the shelf to buy. I said “I am buying those, I got them off the shelf” he said NO your not !! He refused to give them back and sell them to me. He also said they were not suppose to be put out ? He was blaming another employee. How can an employee take your items you picked up to purchase and refuse to give them back ?? They were on the shelf and clearly priced !!!! Guess he wanted them for himself. People donate those items for free for people to buy to help out others. SO I ENCOURAGE ALL FROM NOW ON TO DONATE TO INDIPENDENT SMALL THRIFT STORES. I am sure they have better customer appreciation, gratitude, and service to the public than at the Athens...
