I remember when this place first opened. It was amazing and had so much good stuff. But over the years, it's become less and less organized filling up more with non-game items such as DVDs and thrift store things. The repair/junk/ storage area in the back of the store kept growing and taking up more real estate, shrinking the actual storefront.
Then all the good/ high end/rare games became only available online which took all the fun out of going into the store. Maybe this was for security reasons. Maybe they had glass showcases get broken into or something? either way, the last time I was able to actually get in there, there wasn't much to see.
Since then, the last three or four times I've tried to go during business hours -they have been closed. So I probably haven't been in there in about a year or so.
Even now with friday festivities happening on main Street, and lots of foot traffic, the store will not open during normal posted hours.
I get that retro game collecting has become really expensive, and the community around it can be quite toxic. So I'm sure it's been difficult trying to maintain this place, but after a certain point it doesn't make sense to hold a storefront on Main Street if you're not going to open the doors.
And if the normal hours are not worth the time, at least pick one day a week to be open for like 5 hours. Just get something consistent on the books where people can actually rely on it.
I don't want to give the store a one star review, because it used to be so amazing. I still have some hope that they can turn it around, because the area needs something like the original...
Read moreSCAMMER WARNING!!! Highly dishonest people. They charge full price for there items, only for them to be broken. When you bring it back to them and demand you money back or a replacement item, they try to charge you for the replacement and try to take the damaged one back without refund. Bought a PS2 from them, played it for a total of 12 hours on and off before it stopped working. Bought 2 controllers from that that they said where just Ed, only for them to be broken. They then tried to charge me to get them fixed and refused to give a refund. DO NOT BUY OR SELL TO THIS BUISNESS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED BY THEM. They are also extremely rude and disrespectful. P.S. One of the people who gave it 5 stars was one of there employees, one of the times...
Read moreOk, so this store has its ups and downs at certain times... now let me tell you guys something! You want a good game? Like, a RARE game? Than 'go on their website'. Apparently, everything rare goes up onto their website. However, they should have some in stock AT THE STORE. That's what brings business in. Another thing: I went in here, hearing that they sell Magic/Yugioh/Pokemon. Now, I love all three. Play all three and have a blast. After half an hour of browsing, trying to find good cards, an employee yelled at me for taking too long. I was going to purchase, but decided not to. I've met the guy at Rietta's and he's wicked nice... the employee though was...
