Los Agaves Grill — Restaurant in Athol

Well first off the lady who sat us down seemed miserable and pretty much set the mood for the rest of our experience being myself, my fiancé and our 19 month old son. She sat us down without even a smile or a Welcome to Los Agave... etc. etc. our waiter aka the bartender came pretty much the same my fiancé asked how are you doing tonight and he responded “ what can I get you to drink” so we lit our drink orders in a few minutes later dropped them off and he took off 5 minutes go by and I’m still going over the menu he comes back and ask if we’re ready, it’s our first time here so I’m having a hard time deciding so I ask for a few more minutes to decide and here’s the first part of our terrible experience at Los Agave, 30-40 minutes go by before my fiancé has to flag down some random waiter to ask for service not one person came by especially the bartender aka our server who was happily taking care of everyone else around us, as soon as this other random waiter comes over to us he comes right up behind her to finally take our order. 15 minutes later our food comes out. A salad, shrimp fajitas and a kids burger, and it was awful everything was over cooked, shrimp were like chewing on a bouncy ball, salad was under dressed and chicken was dry as... well you can guess, it kids burger the same as the chicken. I heard so many good things about this place so last night I ordered $60 worth of food... the portions were huge so I was even more excited..

I started digging in and man oh man, the tres amigos was extremely disappointing. The beef in the chile verde was hard to chew, the sauce and the chile relleno was way too Salty, and there was so much egg covering the chile, it looked like an omelet.

So, I moved onto the churros. I grew up with bakery trucks in California and these churros I had were so hard, you might break a tooth.. I'm not sure if they were stale or if it's because I ordered at the end of the night when I was getting out of work. They close at 9pm so I didn't think placing an order at 730pm would be a big deal.

Last but not least, I ordered chips, with salsa, and an order of the cheese with jalapeños dip. The salsa was actually spicy, which I like. The cheese dip was really creamy which was also good, but the jalapeños were pickled... I always thought "authentic" meant fresh ingredients.

Definitely not the best Mexican food I've had. I found better...

Love going here, I kinda wish the waitress was more attentive with our table (seems to be a every other visit theme*). Once she brought the food we never saw her again and waited 10 mins for the bill (yes we couldve stopped her when she went by but she either walked fast or was carrying food). If she had asked how our food was or stopped to check on us I would've gotten another drink since I finished mine so quick. Regardless of the service, everything else was great so maybe waitress just felt a Lil burnt out or really busy. It's my 3rd time going and I love it everytime!

*the second and 3rd visit I noticed the staff weren't in your face annoying which I'm fine with but also would've been nice to be asked if we needed anything halfway through the meal. Something they could work on during busy hours, just check...
