I wish that I could write a formal review of my workout experience but this review is about my multiple attempts to workout at this facility with no success from the owner and trainers.
Being new to the EAV area, I wanted to invest my time and money into my community. Selecting a gym in my neighborhood would be a great start — right?
I stopped by their facilities twice. The first experience was during a class and I wanted to simply grab a card, flyer or something tangible. I walked in with a big smile and waited for the trainer to finish pep talking the class during a weight session. The trainer looked at me odd, never said a word and then proceeded to instruct the class. I smiled again and said “I’ll come back.” This was strange as I’ve visited other gyms in the area and didn’t have the same experience even during a class.
The second time I came back it was also during a class but this person, (one of the owners) welcomed me with a smile so I walked up and said I purchased in the area and wanted to learn more about their classes and was hoping to start asap. The owner asked me to complete a sign in sheet with my name and email to send me more info. I have never heard back and it’s been over 30 days.
My assumptions:
They prefer to not speak to new potential clients during a class but don’t have any front desk help, or anyone else to speak to about the facilities (the facilities only seem open during class time).
They’re not pressed for...
My first week at Terminus having never done crossfit before was really surprising. The classes were challenging, of course, but the instructors were so patient, explained the exercises and forms thoroughly, and happily helped me modify the workouts to fit my current capabilities. I look forward to continuing my fitness journey with them this year.
The members / community have been kind, encouraging, supportive, and absolutely motivating. You can tell that Ben and Emily foster a community culture that is warm and seeks to make everyone feel welcome.
That has been my favorite part of the gym experience so far, and obviously the most important thing-- but in addition to that, I also appreciate how the types of workout crossfit itself facilitates seem what I've deemed "practical and tactical." What I mean by that is, it seems less about bulking and aesthetics and more about focusing on workouts that use how the body natural moves and strengthens in ways that are beneficial for everyday/ pragmatic things.
I'm hoping after a few years of this I'll find a husband who can view me as being a partner who will be an asset in the impeding apocalyptic future we're moving towards instead of...
Read moreI am returning to CrossFit after a 10 year hiatus, and I have only been a member at Terminus for a little over a week now. However I would like to give Terminus big props for their initial communication and interaction at my first visit. After I filled out the online information request form, Ben from Terminus quickly followed up with an email with next steps instructions and more information. From there I was able to easily sign up for my first introductory class at the gym. Before my class, Bryson who would be the coach for the class I signed up, gave me a call. He explained what to expect and asked about my fitness history and if I had any injuries. When I showed up for my first class, the first person I ran into at the gym was very friendly and showed me around. Bryson is a great coach and the class was a lot of fun. But make no mistake, you will be put to work, just as the other seasoned members at the gym:) However, there are tons of scaling options and the coaches will make sure you properly adapt, to maintain your form and prevent injuries. Love it...
